Summary

Forklift operator is responsible for operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count product. The Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the forklift and may also be required to perform Order Picker duties.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the facilities equipment and materials in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.
  • On a daily basis, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the forklift or other equipment.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintained.
  • Assist in physical inventories and insure proper stock rotation.
  • Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards.
  • Assist in pulling product from the warehouse for shipment.
  • Wraps order on pallet for shipment
  • Loads and unloads product safely and move product to storage locations, pallets, etc.
  • Place shipments and cheese orders on racking systems
  • Insure pallets for shipment are accurate and free of damage.
Physical Requirements:
  • Standing with walking is required for most of the shift (not including breaks)
  • Push and pulling pallets and lifting product is required.
  • Bending is required to lift product or debris
  • Climbing on ladder
  • Crouching is required
  • Kneeling is required occasionally
  • Physical strength to handle up to 25-pound object, frequently. Some items weighing up to 50 lbs to be handled occasionally
  • Above average coordination, including eye-hand, hand-foot and balance
  • Above average endurance
  • Normal dexterity of hands and fingers with average repetition
  • Site with ability to distinguish color; perception of sound is required; ability to communicate issues verbally and in written form as well as to use hand held bar code scanners.
Knowledge Requirements:

A positive attitude & pleasant personality; effective memory skills; good hand eye coordination; dependability, ability to follow directions & a strong willingness to learn. Must be a team player.

Qualifications:
  • Education High school diploma or GED,
  • Experience Minimum 1 year in food industry warehouse
  • Must have a current forklift certification card

Work environment: Normal exposure to weather and warehouse temperature at 38 degrees for a period of up to 8 hours per day.
