Description

Landon School is seeking a full-time Bus Driver and Maintenance Assistant to join our Facilities and Operations team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a CDL to support the school during the school year with getting our students to and from school and field trips, as well as supporting our summer camp program. When not driving, this person would support the daily operations of our 17-building campus with general maintenance and repair tasks including painting, basic carpentry, event setup/breakdown, and support during emergency drills. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate school buses and other vehicles to transport students      to and from school, athletic events, field trips, and other activities
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and safety standards
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any maintenance or safety concerns
  • Maintain order and ensure student safety while on the bus
  • Coordinate with the Transportation Manager and school staff regarding schedules and route changes
  • Assist with loading and unloading of students and equipment as needed
  • Perform general maintenance and repair work including painting, changing light bulbs, basic carpentry, and event setup and breakdown.

Requirements

  • Valid CDL license with passenger (P) and school bus (S) endorsements (or the ability to obtain)
  • Clean driving records and ability to pass required background check & drug screening
  • Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively in English with teachers, staff, students and others
  • Prior maintenance experience preferred
  • Strong work ethic, detailed oriented, and willingness to work as part of a team
  • Willingness to complete varying tasks depending upon the needs of the school, and to work varying hours as needed 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects (50+ lbs.) 
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform physical labor for extended periods 
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
