Title: Bus Aide
 
Position Purpose:
The bus aide will work under the direction of the bus driver to assist in maintaining an orderly and safe atmosphere on the bus.  The bus aide works alongside the bus driver to safely transport students to and from school on a clean bus. The bus aide will help to supervise students on the bus in accordance with the School Board policy and established district procedures.
Essential Functions:
  • Assists in supervising students on the bus
  • Assists in making sure that the bus is clean and safe
  • Performs a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure
  • Accept responsibility for the direction
  • Deal effectively and courteously with students, parents, teachers, and principals 
  • Monitor the students in accordance to school practices and procedures
  • Makes sound judgement
  • Relay factual information in and out of the organization.
  • Understand meanings of words and signs
  • Observe and heed in accordance to the law governing the license of bus drivers
  • Reports to bus driver as appropriate regarding infractions, safety concerns, injuries, or other issues involving students 
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned
