Reports To: Program Director / Youth Development Director
Position Summary

The Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting YMCA participants to and from YMCA programs, schools, and community locations. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, punctuality, and positive experience of all riders while modeling the YMCA core values ofCaring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.


Essential Functions
  • Safely operate YMCA vehicles in compliance with all state and local traffic laws

  • Transport program participants to and from designated locations according to assigned schedules

  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly

  • Ensure proper supervision and safe behavior of passengers during transport

  • Maintain accurate attendance, mileage, and trip logs as required

  • Communicate effectively with YMCA staff regarding schedules, delays, or concerns

  • Follow YMCA policies, safety procedures, and emergency protocols

  • Maintain cleanliness and orderly condition of the vehicle

  • Provide courteous, professional interactions with participants, families, staff, and community partners

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required if applicable to vehicle type

  • Previous professional driving experience preferred

  • Ability to pass background checks, motor vehicle record check, and drug screening per ALDOT

  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification required (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe)


Work Schedule
  • Part-timehours based on program needs

  • Flexible availability required, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends


Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle

  • Ability to assist passengers entering and exiting the vehicle
