Academy of Art University is seeking full-time Class B Drivers with two or more years of professional driving experience, preferably in San Francisco. As a Driver for Academy of Art University, you will be responsible for safely transporting students, faculty and staff to and from residential halls, classrooms and other Academy buildings.
Drivers will operate a variety of transit vehicles, including, buses, school buses, 33-seater shuttle buses cars and 7- passenger vans, along assigned routes while navigating the city streets of San Francisco. Our Drivers must be able to provide superior customer service in a safe, courteous and reliable manner; this is essential to the transportation team's success in providing passengers with the best possible experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Transport students, faculty and staff between facilities on time according to schedule
  • Ensure bus safety by adhering to vehicle and traffic safety regulations at all times, including the performance of safety inspections before and after every shift and following regulated procedure for all accidents and breakdowns
  • Maintain bus cleanliness throughout shift
  • Reflect courteous and helpful image at all times: call out stops, return all lost and found items to security, maintain neat and clean appearance
  • Comply with all DOT and FMCSA requirements in addition to all Academy policies and procedures
  • Maintain a commercial Class B license, certification(s) including passenger endorsement without airbrakes, and testing as required by DOT and FMCSA

Requirements:
  • Possess and maintain a valid California driver's license with passenger endorsement.
  • Be ensurable through ArtU insurance carrier.
  • Ability to successful pass a driving test.
  • Possess a minimum of two years of professional passenger driving experience, preferably in San Francisco.
  • Be friendly, patient and enjoy interacting with others.
  • Ability to be vigilant while driving throughout downtown San Francisco.

Compensation for our Bus Drivers is $28.00 per hour.
Bus Drivers are scheduled 40 hours per week for 37.5 weeks per year. Hours are scheduled during the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters.
