Love working in a kitchen but tired of nights and weekends?

A to Z Building Blocks is hiring a dependable Childcare Cook to prepare meals and snacks for the children in our center.

This could be a great fit if you have experience as a:

  • Daycare or childcare cook
  • School or cafeteria cook
  • Fast-food cook or kitchen worker
  • Prep cook
  • Restaurant worker

You do not need to be a chef. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working in a busy kitchen, can follow recipes, stays organized, and can get meals out on time independently.

Schedule

  • Full-timeMonday-Friday
  • Daytime hours
  • No nights and No weekends

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and serve meals and snacks from a planned menu
  • Follow recipes and food-safety guidelines
  • Prep ingredients and cook using ovens and stovetops
  • Keep meals on schedule throughout the day
  • Wash dishes and keep the kitchen clean and organized
  • Properly store food and monitor supplies
  • Complete grocery shopping and kitchen inventory
  • Drive a 14 passenger van for grocery shopping and transportation needs

What We're Looking For

Previous cooking or kitchen experience is required.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience preparing food in a daycare, school, cafeteria, fast-food, restaurant, or similar kitchen
  • Is comfortable cooking for groups
  • Can work independently and stay on schedule
  • Can follow recipes and instructions
  • Works quickly while keeping the kitchen clean and organized
  • Is dependable and ready to work every day

You must also:

  • Be 21 or older
  • Have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Be willing to complete company bus-driver training and drive when needed
  • Have or obtain a Food Handler Permit before starting
  • Be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Pass required background checks
