Reports to: Director of Transportation and/or Director of Facilities and Grounds and/or appropriate administrative personnel
Terms of
Employment: Twelve month period. Salary and benefits each year to be established by the Board.
SUMMARY: To keep the district's cars and buses in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program. To assist the custodial/maintenance staff in providing a clean and healthy learning environment for the students, staff, and community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assist in the maintenance of all corporations' vehicles.
  2. Clean and degrease motors and undercarriage as needed.
  3. Clean and detail inside of vehicles as needed.
  4. Receive, fill and deliver custodial supplies as needed.
  5. Perform required building maintenance as needed.
  6. Perform snow removal as needed.
  7. Perform custodial duties as needed.
  8. Promotes high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all work-connected areas.
  9. Checks bus after each operation so that all children are accounted for.
  10. Promote good public relations for the School Corporation and community.
  11. Lead by example by exemplifying good moral conduct.
  12. Other appropriate duties assigned by his/her supervisor.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift/ carry up to 100 lbs, work on ladders/ scaffolds and work in extreme temperatures.
Capable of maintaining adequate records.
Demonstrate aptitude and/or competence for assigned responsibilities
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma
Experience in maintenance of school buses preferred.
Experience in performing finish carpentry/ construction, painting and wallpapering preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid CDL license with all appropriate endorsements to drive a school bus preferred and must have good driving record.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondences, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply general mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community, and ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.
