Bunker Tour Guide

Position: Bunker Tour Guide

Department: Operations

Date Updated: 2-13-19

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide 90-minute walking tour of underground facility for up to 30 guests.
  • Present "Bunker Story" and relate to The Greenbrier, local, state and world history.
  • Generate enthusiasm for bunker subject matter.
  • Work effectively with other departments to ensure success of the bunker.
  • Ensure safety/security of facility and guests.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Provide 45-60-minute hotel walking tour for up to 30 guests of The Greenbrier.
  • Provide historical information to The Greenbrier guests while serving as docent in the President's Museum.
  • Collect tour monies and maintain accurate records.

Normal Working Hours: Year Round, Part Time position

Must have a flexible schedule and availability. Work schedules include holidays, weekends, weekdays and some evenings.

Past work experience requirements: Experience in conducting tours, presenting information, teaching and public speaking are helpful.

Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED.

Communication Skills Requirements: Ability to present tour information while physically leading tour groups. Possess and utilize proper grammar. Possess excellent public speaking skills.

Technical Requirements: Ability to use Audio Visual equipment for presentation Ability to retain and memorize information for 90 minutes hotel and bunker tours Ability to walk and speak for two tours (90 minutes each) back to back. Work is indoors, heated and below ground. Tour includes twenty-five stairs to lower level of power plant. Tour guide must be able to walk backwards and talk.

Position reports to Manager of Bunker Tours.
