Job description

Forward Deployed Operations Lead

San Francisco, CA - Fully Onsite

Competitive Salary + Founding Equity

Company Overview:

We are partnering with an early-stage, venture-backed team that's building the autonomous nervous system for the world's most essential industries. While many AI companies focus on chatbots and creative tools, they are deploying AI agents into the heart of global operationsโ€”specifically freight, supply chain, manufacturing, and field services.

The platform integrates directly into critical business infrastructure, allowing operations teams to automate high-stakes, high-complexity workflows that were previously impossible to scale. They don't just improve software; they are fundamentally changing how the physical world moves.

The Role:

We are looking for an Forward Deployed Operations Lead who is a rare hybrid: a high-level strategic thinker with the technical chops of a builder.

In this role, you won't just be "managing" accounts or "directing" traffic. You will be in the engine room. You'll be reading logs, dissecting API responses, and using tools like Cursor to build and optimize the very workflows that power our clients' businesses. You are the vital bridge between our partners and our engineering teamโ€”ensuring that every AI agent we deploy is precise, scalable, and bulletproof.

Key Responsibilities

  • Workflow Engineering: Architect and refine AI-driven workflows using technical platforms like Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, n8n, and Zapier. You will be responsible for the direct logic manipulation that makes our agents effective.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Deep-dive into system logs, API responses, and data pipelines to isolate root causes and resolve technical blockers independently.
  • Engineering Partnership: Act as a force multiplier for our product team. You'll translate messy, real-world edge cases into structured technical requirements and actionable data.
  • Quality Assurance & Optimization: Monitor agent outputs and system behaviors with obsessive attention to detail, ensuring technical reliability in high-variance environments.
  • Client Deployment: Lead the technical implementation for partners, translating complex operational requirements into structured, high-performing setups.

Who You Are

  • A Proven Operator: 4+ years in high-stakes roles (Technical BizOps, Technical Solutions Engineer, FDE, Implementation Architect, Deployment Strategist, etc) where you were the primary person responsible for "getting into the weeds."
  • Technically Fluent: You are very comfortable in an IDE (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex). You can read code, understand API structures, and possess a deep intuition for automation logic.
  • The "Playbook Builder": You thrive in high-variance environments where there is no existing manual. You are a "Type A" analytical thinker who enjoys creating order out of chaos.
  • A Precise Communicator: You can explain a complex technical edge case to a developer and then explain the operational impact to a stakeholder with total clarity.
  • Execution-Obsessed: You are a proactive self-starter who values shipping high-quality work and troubleshooting technical issues from the ground up.
