Job description


POSITION PURPOSE:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Bulldog Life and TRIO assists with the fulfillment of the mission of Bulldog Life to provide students opportunities to grow personally as they pursue their educational goals at Navarro College.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support the Bulldog Life staff in various events including Kid's College, Operation Bulldogs Serve, and Bulldog Orientation.
  • Serve as a group leader and guide for event participants ages 5-90.
  • Assist Navarro College faculty and staff as a teaching assistant for Bulldog Life Events such as Bulldog Orientation or Kid's College.
  • Lead engaging activities for event participants.
  • Assist with event planning, setup, tear down, and clean-up for various Bulldog Life Events.
  • Ensure the safety of event participants from the beginning of an event until the end.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship, communication, organizational, and promotional skills required.
  • Understanding of and commitment to Community College philosophies.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals coupled with interaction with community leaders, city, county, and school officials, administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Capable of handling multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills and the ability to function as a team player.
  • Willingness to work in a busy environment with numerous interruptions.
  • Willingness to work some evenings and an occasional weekend when called upon.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.

Preferred:
  • Prior experience volunteering or working with community or educational organizations to provide community/campus/camp events.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Variances from regular working hours may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
  • Busy working environment with numerous interruptions.
  • Some lifting will be required.
