Shift: 5:00am - 3:30pm, Monday thru Friday
Location: South Deerfield, Mass
Job purpose
As Shop manager, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient performance of Massachusetts facilities. Shop Manager will supervise, direct, and coordinate the scheduling and performance of maintenance services in the Shop. Ensure a safe, productive, and timely performance of services.
Duties and responsibilities
Employee Management
  • Coordination with the Director of Maintenance to ensure protocols are maintained.
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the shop's day-to-day operations, including staffing, scheduling, customer service, inventory management, and facility maintenance.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency enhancements. Implement initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and increase productivity throughout the shop.
  • Proactively resolving daily issues
  • Communicating effectively across multiple management teams
  • Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with technicians, drivers, and clients through effective communication
  • Posts employment notices and other important information at the terminal, in conjunction with Human Resources.
  • Mange workflow in maintenance shop
  • Monitors and reviews work schedules, technician productivity, and labor.
  • Assures productivity standards are met.
  • Plan and prepare work schedules and assign associates to specific duties.
  • Supervises daily Service Department activities.
  • Supervises shop personnel providing support with technical information.

Fleet Management
  • Oversee terminal equipment maintenance, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinating with transportation manager to attain the smooth and efficient movement of freight as effectively and safely as possible to meet customer needs
  • Coordinates getting truck to vendor and getting it back.
  • Perform quality checks on shift when second shift supervisor is not present.

Safety
  • Responsible for ensuring adherence to safety regulations, company policies, and procedures, along with applicable Federal and State laws at the terminal location.
  • Maintain Petroleum Bulk Storage Tank reporting.
  • Keep facility safe and up to current OSHA standards.
  • Train employees on safety procedures

Facilities Maintenance
  • Yard Organization
  • Perform yard checks throughout the day.
  • Maintain Shop cleanliness.

Inventory Management
  • Receive and stocking inventory.
  • Cycle Counts & inventory control.
  • Manage and maintain inventory protocols.
  • Oversee the procurement of vehicle parts, equipment, and various other items.
  • Reviews work order for parts and labor.
  • Generate reports and analysis on inventory performance, including stock levels, turnover rates, and inventory aging. Provide insights and recommendations to management for improving inventory management processes and optimizing inventory turnover.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts to verify stock levels and identify discrepancies. Investigate root causes of inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Implement and maintain inventory control procedures to ensure accurate tracking of all products and materials stocked in the shop. Monitor inventory levels, reorder points, and lead time to prevent stockouts and minimize excess inventory.
  • This role may perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned and cross train to perform other duties.
