The Opportunity
As the Manager, Systems Engineering for Intelligence & Special Programs at Nutanix, you will play a crucial role in our US Federal sales team. You will lead a team of presales systems engineers, providing coaching, motivation, and support. You may also be required to perform the functions of a Nutanix Systems Engineer. Reporting to the Director, Systems Engineering - US Federal, you will act as the Systems Engineering resource for the Vice President, Federal Sales. Your Role
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customers in the territory.
  • Act as a floating Systems Engineer to fill in for team members during resource conflicts or vacation coverage.
  • Take ownership of channel enablement to ensure ongoing support and collaboration with partners.

Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Support the field SE team by assisting with complex evaluations, troubleshooting, and challenging customer environments.
  • Recruit and hire new Systems Engineers and managers for the territory, providing mentorship and training to them once onboard.
  • Manage the Systems Engineers in the territory, conducting regular 1:1s with direct reports, 2x2 meetings with sales counterparts, and handling expense management, quarterly check-ins, and escalation conversations.

First Year Objectives:
  • Serve as an escalation point for technical issues that arise during pre-sales and post-sales in the territory.
  • Foster relationships with channel partners and their technical teams.
  • Clearly communicate the value of Nutanix while understanding and respecting the unique needs and responsibilities of the Federal Sector.
  • Stay up-to-date on the changing environment within the Federal sector and leverage simplicity, cloud-first strategies, and cost savings to build positive relationships and drive sales success.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time within the region.

What You Will Bring
  • You are a humble leader with a bias for action, displaying a 'whatever it takes' attitude and motivation to help close deals.
  • Utilize resources and support from Engineering, Marketing, and Product Development departments to surpass sales performance goals.
  • Collaborate closely with executives and hold significant influence over decisions and initiatives.
  • Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Possess 10+ years of experience as a Federal Sr./Pre-Sales Systems Engineer, including 3-5+ years in a management role. Additionally, have in-depth knowledge of the virtualization and storage markets, along with strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Top Secret clearance or higher strongly preferred.

Work Arrangement
Remote: This position is primarily remote. There is no specific in-office requirement, however, there may be circumstances where you may be required to come into a local office for a specific purpose, and/or to travel to other locations based on business needs.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 261,000 and USD $ 391,000 per year. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
