Electronic Technician II- Statewide

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at various Correctional Institutions in the Maintenance Department statewide.

The mission of Facilities Management and Building Construction at the Florida Department of Corrections is to provide a safe, secure, and efficient environment for staff, inmates, and visitors. This is achieved through the effective management, maintenance, and construction of correctional facilities, ensuring they meet all regulatory standards and support the department's overall mission of public safety and rehabilitation.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:

This working position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of all types of electronic systems and devices including but not limited to, electronic perimeter security systems, internal electronic security systems, electronic and electrical locking control systems, CCTV systems, communications systems, and associated systems and components utilized in the operation of a correctional facility.

  1. Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical infrastructure, systems, and devices, and provides on-the-job training to supervised inmates.
  2. Performs preventive maintenance, tests, logs, and keeps records for electrical systems as per Department guidelines.
  3. Repairs and modifies complex electronic equipment and operates, repairs, and calibrates various testing equipment.
  4. Plans and organizes work, requisitions necessary parts, and adheres to maintenance and construction policies and procedures.
  5. Prepares reports, maintains custody and control of supervised inmates, participates in departmental staff training, and performs other related duties as required.
