BAS Technician

Job Title: BAS Technician Location: Chippewa Falls, WI (on-site) Type: Direct Hire Schedule: 40 hours/week Travel: Local travel to job sites in the Milwaukee area (valid driver’s license required)

Overview

We are seeking a Building Automation Systems (BAS) Technician to support commercial/industrial facilities by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing building control systems. This role focuses on optimizing system performance and reliability across HVAC, lighting, and other integrated building operations, while supporting energy efficiency and occupant comfort.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and commission BAS hardware and software per project specifications
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and diagnostics to ensure reliable operation
  • Troubleshoot alarms, faults, and communication issues; implement timely repairs to reduce downtime
  • Partner with facilities/engineering teams to optimize performance and support energy-saving initiatives
  • Document service work, configuration changes, and maintenance procedures for compliance and reference
  • Provide technical support and basic user training to facility staff on BAS operation and best practices
  • Stay current on relevant standards, emerging technologies, and manufacturer updates

Minimum qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training (electronics, HVAC, or related) preferred
  • 2+ years of experience working with BAS or similar control systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control logic
  • Solid understanding of HVAC systems, sensors, actuators, and BAS communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, and/or LonWorks)
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally as needed

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with one or more BAS platforms such as Alerton, Distech, Allen-Bradley PLCs, Tridium/Niagara, Johnson Controls Metasys, Siemens Desigo, Automated Logic, or Honeywell
  • Familiarity with energy management systems and sustainability/efficiency practices
  • Strong computer skills and comfort using BAS tools plus Microsoft Office
