A building maintenance technician cares for commercial and industrial facilities. Job duties include identifying maintenance needs, evaluating the complexity of repairs, and doing the repair or outsourcing it to a specialist. Repair and maintenance tasks often involve minor electrical and plumbing work, carpentry, and painting. Occasionally a building maintenance technician has to patch or install drywall or concrete surfaces. Depending on the size of the building, they may work independently or with a team of other technicians.
