Both roles are essential in maintaining building operations, but the Apprentice position is designed as a stepping stone toward becoming a fully qualified Maintenance Technician.

A building maintenance apprentice typically earns between $12 and $20 per hour, depending on location, experience, and the employer. Apprentices often receive on-the-job training and may work part-time or full-time schedules while developing skills in repairs, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.

How to start a career in building maintenance apprentice?

To start a career as a building maintenance apprentice, individuals typically need a high school diploma or equivalent and should seek entry-level positions or apprenticeships offered by property management companies or maintenance firms. Gaining basic skills in plumbing, electrical work, and HVAC systems, along with relevant certifications such as OSHA safety training, can improve job prospects.
