New opportunity! The Thompson & Lichtner Co. Inc. is looking for a skilled and driven Building Envelope Manager to join our team in Canton, MA. This is an exciting career opportunity to lead critical building envelope testing and make a lasting impact on the quality and performance of commercial  buildings. Conduct tests and investigations onsite on some of the most iconic commercial properties in New England, large scale construction, historic buildings, and pre- and post-construction projects. Work for a small business with a big history, great reputation, and supportive working environment. Full time position. Compensation dependent upon education and experience.
Position Qualifications: 
  • Engineering degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum five years of experience in managing and conducting specialized building envelope testing services such as weatherproofing tests and inspection services, along with forensic services, window, curtain wall, storefront, and door testing, FM Global wind uplift test, smoke test, electronic leak detection tests, and other building envelope testing and inspections. 
  • Experience writing, reading, and understanding job proposals, estimates.
  • Experience managing and scheduling a staff and reviewing staff’s findings and reports.
  • Experience working in the field on large commercial projects.
  • Ability to interface with clients and create and maintain long standing professional relationships.

Requirements and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct field inspections and quality assessments of building envelope systems including roofing, facades, windows, and waterproofing
  • Review construction documents, submittals, etc. for building envelope testing projects
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports for clients
  • Review for accuracy and compose professional proposals and reports in a timely basis with attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn and share knowledge
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with problem solving, organizing and time management skills in the field and office
  • Clean record from pre-employment background check (iCORI)
  • Reliable vehicle, valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Physical abilities necessary: Ability to sit; stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. Occasionally required to walk, sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to lift up to 125 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While in the field, may be required to walk in rugged conditions, work in adverse weather conditions, stand up to eight hours or more at a time, and work from heights (ex., from staging, ladders, boom-lift, scaffolding, or on roofs of high buildings). 
  • Willingness to comply with safety procedures in office and on job sites. Must wear attire appropriate with performing duties safely. ANSI-approved footwear necessary. Hard hat, safety vest and safety glasses are provided. 
  • Report directly to the Building Enclosure Director and coordinate department closely with other divisions.
  • Must be legally authorized to work long term in the US
  • OSHA-10 certification
  • Strong knowledge of building envelope systems including roofing, cladding, fenestration, and waterproofing
  • Computer proficiency (MS Office and AutoCAD)
