This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities.

IMEG is hiring a Surveying Intern in Manassas, VA, to support experienced engineers and consultants with engineering analysis, design, field inspections, report writing, permit applications, site drainage and grading design, and survey-related work. Over 10-12 weeks, this paid, mentored internship offers hands-on experience with real project work while you learn the civil engineering trade.

You will also support project documentation, multidisciplinary coordination, and periodic job site observations while helping teams work within project budgets and meet client expectations. Working with a team focused on survey, subsurface utility engineering, and public-sector work, you will collaborate across disciplines and contribute to resilient, environmentally responsible infrastructure.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with design portions of projects related to discipline systems according to code and IMEG standards

  • Assist with researching resources for commercially available equipment

  • Assist with client relations, project design notebooks, and documentation for permanent record files

  • Assist with coordinating design and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment supplier teams

  • Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress

  • Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check

  • Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information

  • Conduct periodic job site observations and other services as required by the contract services agreement

  • Work within the project's monetary budget and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required

State of Virginia Pay Range: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
