Job description

This position could be located in Reston, Herndon, Mclean or Chantilly, VA

Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking a Cloud Engineer. The Cloud Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, deploying, and managing our cloud infrastructure to ensure the availability, performance, and security of our applications and services. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement cloud solutions that align with our business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with architects to design scalable and cost-effective cloud architecture solutions, considering factors such as high availability, disaster recovery, and security
  • Deploy and configure cloud services and resources on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, ensuring best practices and optimization
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code scripts (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) to automate provisioning and manage cloud resources
  • Implement and monitor security measures, access controls, and compliance policies to safeguard cloud infrastructure and data
  • Set up monitoring, alerting, and performance tuning processes to ensure the reliability and efficiency of cloud environments
  • Investigate and resolve cloud-related issues, providing technical support and root cause analysis
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of cloud infrastructure, configurations, and procedures
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including developers, DevOps engineers, and IT professionals, to integrate cloud solutions into the development and operational processes

Qualifications:

  • Active Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer or similar role
  • Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) tools
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with network protocols, security, and compliance in cloud environments
  • Scripting and programming skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash)
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or Google Professional Cloud Architect are a plus
