Subsidiary Summary: ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) is the industry leader in performing technical evaluations of building products, materials and systems for code compliance. This includes our testing services and product certification.
Position Summary: This role is an entry-level position focused on assisting with laboratory tasks. You will be responsible for preparing and tearing down test setups, handling materials, and maintaining a clean work environment. The role requires you to perform basic tests, accurately document procedures, and learn higher-level skills under supervision to advance your career.
Essential Functions:
  • Basic labor to setup and tear down test setups and fixtures.
  • Materials are handling.
  • Cleanup and basic maintenance around the lab.
  • Assist technicians at a higher level while learning laboratory skills to advance to the next level.
  • Learn to perform tasks at higher levels of responsibility under supervision.
  • Perform required documentation of test set-ups and test procedures.
  • Ability to judge test assembly workmanship and maintain consistent quality.
  • Ability to set up tests in a consistent and repeatable manner.
  • Perform less-defined tests that require moderate judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Conduct testing in accordance with the requirements of published standards and/or company protocols.
  • Correctly document assembly components and create sketches as necessary for complete documentation.
  • Enter and review handwritten data into the computer.
  • Learn to perform tasks at higher levels of responsibility under supervision.
  • Perform all work in accordance with ICC-ES quality, safety and technical procedures and notify supervisors when tasks cannot be completed in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ability to run well-defined tests with little to no supervision while learning responsibilities and procedures of more complicated tests or assemblies.
  • Follow all ICC-ES laboratory safety protocols, PPE requirements, and quality procedures.
  • Participate in training on ISO/IEC 17025 requirements and ICC-ES quality systems.
  • Assist with sample tracking, labeling, and storage.
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, and special assignments as assigned.

Requirements
Essential Skills and Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in building construction or related industry preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of building construction, building materials, and construction tools and equipment preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools safely.
  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions, drawings, and safety procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate data entry skills.
  • Willingness to learn, take direction, and work as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:?
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move continuously throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and reaching overhead.
  • Manual dexterity for handling tools, equipment, and packaging materials.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other warehouse machinery (if certified).
  • Tolerance for working in varying temperatures, including cold storage or outdoor areas.
  • Must be able to climb ladders or stairs as needed.
  • Visual and auditory acuity to identify safety hazards and follow instructions.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots.
