About this role

We are recruiting for a Service Technician, Controls to join our Burnaby or Victoria office. Here's how your role will strengthen our team.

The Service Technician, Controls will be involved in building control systems installations and servicing. This role works on building automation controls systems for new and renovated buildings as well as upgrades for existing client sites. You will work with Project Managers, design team, & field staff.


Your responsibilities

  • Provide quality and timely service, troubleshoot and installation of building automation systems according to the specifications and design of a building's HVAC system
  • Configure, integrate, test, commission and service building automation systems including the integration of various HVAC systems such as chillers and boilers
  • Efficiently and effectively troubleshoot technical systems
  • Communicate any changes, site issues or concerns to the project team
  • Actively contribute to the project team, escalating any issues or new requests from clients to the Project Manager
  • Adhere to best practices, industry standards and Houle's commitment to quality
  • Lead customer training, demos and project close out processes
  • Identify potential business opportunities from interaction with clients
  • Remain familiar with new products, solution versions, upgrades and compatibility
  • Be familiar with system integration capabilities of all Houle offerings and 3rd parties
  • Maintain knowledge of and promote all Houle services

Your experience and skills

  • A current IBEW member or willing to become one
  • 3+ years' experience in onsite installation and commissioning of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) control systems
  • Previous field experience in the construction industry
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree/diploma or certification an asset
  • Experience with networking, setting up windows server, configuring routers and switches
  • Knowledge of control system design and electrical control system wiring methods
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree/Diploma
  • Working knowledge of Reliable Control and/or Schneider EcoStruxure product
  • Well organized team player with strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Able to speak, read and write English fluently, flexible and able to multi-task in a changing, fast-paced environment

Must be a member of the IBEW 230 Union or willing to become one. All hiring is subject to IBEW 230's dispatch process.

Salary range: Compensation through the IBEW 230 Collective Agreement plus great benefits and pension.
