Project Sales Representative
Job Description
Commercial Mechanical Systems & Service is seeking a motivated and experienced Project Sales Representative to join our team in Salt Lake City. This position is ideal for a professional with a background in HVAC or mechanical systems who enjoys building client relationships, managing project-based sales, and contributing to the growth of our Service Project division.
Responsibilities
Sales / Marketing / Project Management
  • Identify and develop prospects within assigned commercial and industrial markets.
  • Promptly follow up on leads and referrals to build new business opportunities.
  • Establish customer rapport, assess client needs, and develop effective proposals.
  • Conduct professional sales presentations tailored to each client and project.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and site conditions.
  • Evaluate mechanical systems to determine repair, retrofit, or replacement needs.
  • Prepare accurate quotes, apply proper pricing, and actively manage opportunities to close sales.
  • Maintain a strong backlog of qualified quotes to consistently meet booking goals.
  • Assist with project execution, including coordination with technicians, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Work with local building departments as needed to support permitting and inspections.
  • Communicate with clients throughout the project to ensure satisfaction and manage any change orders.

Business Development
  • Identify and capitalize on partnership and "add-on" sales opportunities.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with key accounts and strategic clients.
  • Represent CMSS with professionalism in community and industry organizations.
  • Support company growth goals by expanding service project business across multiple market segments.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of B2B sales experience; 5 years in facilities, HVAC, or mechanical contracting preferred.
  • Strong estimating and proposal development skills.
  • Technical understanding of HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical systems.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales goals.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record (no DUI in the past 3 years).
  • Must pass background check and drug screening.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to climb ladders and access rooftop or mechanical equipment.
  • Work in confined spaces or variable weather conditions when required.
  • Lift and carry tools or equipment for jobsite assessments.
  • Work beyond standard hours when necessary to meet project or client needs.
