As a Budtender at Northeast Alternatives, you are the face of our brand and a key driver of our retail success. This is a performance-based, customer-facing role designed for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment and take pride in delivering elite service-every customer, every shift.
Budtenders are responsible for driving sales, executing the NEA sales process flawlessly, maintaining perfect compliance, and creating memorable customer experiences that convert first-time shoppers into loyal regulars. Success in this role is measured clearly and consistently through defined KPIs, including sales performance, customer reviews, cash accuracy, attendance, and floor presence.
A top-performing NEA Budtender is dependable, knowledgeable, positive, and accountable-treating every interaction as an opportunity to elevate the customer experience and strengthen the Northeast Alternatives brand.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Sales Performance & KPI Execution
  • Consistently achieve 100% of assigned bi-weekly Average Transaction Amount (ATA) targets through intentional product recommendations and confident close-outs
  • Execute the NEALT sales process flawlessly with every customer, on every shift, without exception
  • Treat every interaction as a sales opportunity while prioritizing education, trust, and long-term loyalty over short-term transactions
  • Actively contribute to store-wide revenue goals by maintaining urgency, focus, and engagement during peak and off-peak hours

Customer Experience & Reviews
  • Deliver a consistently positive, professional, and welcoming experience for every customer
  • Earn five-star Google reviews each bi-weekly period by providing standout service and meaningful engagement
  • Handle customer questions, concerns, and issues with empathy, confidence, and professionalism-escalating when appropriate
  • Prioritize customer satisfaction at all times-not tips, shortcuts, or personal preferences

Sales Floor Presence & Professionalism
  • Maintain a constant, customer-ready presence at your assigned register or sales floor role for the full duration of your shift
  • Step away from the floor only for scheduled breaks or approved, assigned tasks
  • Serve as a brand ambassador by presenting a polished appearance, positive attitude, and calm demeanor-even during high-volume periods
  • Support teammates during rushes and transitions to ensure seamless floor coverage

Product Knowledge & Education

  • Stay informed on new products, changes, and inventory shifts through ongoing training and daily communication
  • Confidently educate customers on consumption methods, effects, and responsible use while remaining compliant with regulations

Cash Handling & Accuracy
  • Process all transactions with speed, accuracy, and integrity
  • Achieve 100% cash handling accuracy on every shift, across all payment methods
  • Follow all cash management SOPs, register procedures, and security protocols without deviation

Compliance & Operational Excellence
  • Maintain 100% regulatory compliance with all state cannabis laws, company policies, and SOPs
  • Ensure all transactions, IDs, quantities, discounts, and promotions are executed accurately and compliantly
  • Keep workstations clean, stocked, organized, and audit-ready at all times

Attendance, Reliability & Accountability
  • Report to 100% of scheduled shifts on time, prepared, and ready to perform
  • Avoid call-outs or missed shifts except for illness or approved time off
  • Demonstrate consistent dependability, urgency, and ownership of responsibilities

Support Roles & Team Collaboration
  • Successfully perform Customer Service Representative (CSR) and Fulfillment duties when scheduled, meeting all expectations of those roles
  • Share customer feedback, product insights, and improvement opportunities with Retail Management
  • Contribute to a collaborative, solutions-oriented team culture that values accountability and results

Qualifications:
  • Must be 21+ and eligible to obtain required state cannabis agent registration
