MARS Solutions Group is looking for an experienced Budget Analyst located in Milwaukee, WI. Our client is an electric and natural gas utility company leader looking for high-quality talent to make a difference. Role Summary / Overview

This position is accountable for supporting various functions within Power Generation Accounting as an individual contributor.

This position will ensure compliance with financial/accounting deadlines. Incumbent will prepare, analyze, monitor, and maintain financial information in support of the Power Generation business unit.
Responsibilities
Involved with month end closing for Power Generation accounting.
Prepare and enter journal entries.
Create and maintain reports and spreadsheets.
Meet financial deadlines.
Ensure financial accuracy in the general ledger.
Run, distribute, and analyze financial reporting.
Support budget and current estimates updates.
Post, review, and validate with business unit that monthly accruals are all submitted and are accurate.
Analyze current estimate and budgets to identify variances.
Provide support to customers in obtaining/understanding financial and budget data.
Assist customers with drill-downs and obtaining more detailed information.
Develop documentation of processes.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
This position requires additional hours during certain times of the month.
Minimum Experience Required
Applicant must have completed at least one year of post-secondary credit hours, including two courses in accounting, plus two years of work experience in accounting within the last five years, including demonstrated electronic spreadsheet knowledge associated with accounting: OR within the last five years, completed two years of post-secondary credit hours, including four courses in accounting with demonstrated electronic spreadsheet knowledge associated with accounting.
Applicant must have a valid driver's license and meet the company's requirements for driving.
This position may require unescorted access to certain critical cyber assets which would require applicants to satisfy all company and NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection Standard 004 security requirements, which includes a background investigation.
Preferred Qualifications
General knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) accounting, various software packages including SAP, Excel and Word.
Skills include analytical, oral and written communication, prioritization, and self-directed/motivated.

Additional Information

Duration: 12 Months with possibility of extension

Location:  Milwaukee, WI 53203

Shift hours: Mon–Fri 8 AM – 5 PM

Schedule Notes: Position will be in the PSB office 100% of the time for the first couple months and then can move to hybrid (with still at least 3 days in the office per week)
