The Waukesha County Park System is seeking dedicated, innovative, and genuine individuals to join our top-notch team as a Head Ice Arena Attendant.

The Waukesha County Park System offers an energetic culture that invites collaboration and provides encouragement to learn and succeed. This position is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about serving their community, is naturally friendly, and isn't afraid of a little hard work.
Work Schedule: this position is intended to work year around, 10-15 hours per week. Must be able to work nights, weekends, and some holidays.
Prior to hiring, the final candidate may be subject to work/education/certification reference(s) and pass a criminal background and driver's license check.
CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION
Example of Duties:
  • Supervises part-time staff.
  • Operates ice equipment.
  • Assists in running "Learn to Skate".
  • Watches over ice skaters (on the ice, while skating), ensuring safe activity.
  • Operates POS cash register and adheres to cash handling policies.
  • Opens and closes the facility.
  • Provides great customer service.
  • Interacts with customers and coworkers in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Maintains safe working conditions and sanitary work area.
  • Performs basic cleaning (sweeping, mopping, and trash removal).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Essential Knowledge and Abilities
  • Ability to skate.
  • Ability to provide, and follow, oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including providing excellent customer service.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment necessary to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working and public relations with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Ability to effectively interact with sensitivity with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, ethnic, and professional backgrounds, and persons of all ages and lifestyles.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push/pull, and lift up to 10-20 lbs. on an occasional basis.

You must meet these Minimum Training and Experience requirements:
  • 18 years of age
  • 8th grade education.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Some recent supervisory work experience.
  • Some recent cash handling and customer service work experience.

Preferred:
  • Operation of ice equipment.
