Job Description:

Join Baker Tilly as a Seasonal Temporary Manager supporting BT Prep during busy season!

This role is a critical leadership position responsible for managing a large seasonal workforce that supports Baker Tilly's tax preparation operations. Rather than serving as a technical tax resource, this position focuses on leading people, driving operational consistency, and ensuring teams execute established processes while delivering high-quality results during our busiest time of year.

As a Seasonal Temporary Manager, you will recruit, onboard, manage performance expectations, and oversee performance of temporary seasonals while partnering with the BT Prep leadership team to maintain productivity, quality, and engagement throughout the season. Success in this role comes from strong people leadership, organization, communication, and the ability to effectively manage a high-volume workforce in a fast-paced environment. This is a temporary position through April 15, 2027.

You'll enjoy this role if:

  • You enjoy leading large teams and helping people succeed.
  • You excel at creating accountability while fostering a positive team environment.
  • You are energized by fast-paced, high-volume operations.
  • You enjoy solving people and process challenges while balancing multiple priorities.
  • You are comfortable making decisions, addressing performance concerns, and partnering with leadership to achieve operational goals.
  • You enjoy building relationships and collaborating across teams.

What you will do:

  • Recruit, interview, and assist in hiring seasonal temporary team members.
  • Support onboarding activities to ensure new hires are prepared for successful integration into the BT Prep organization.
  • Directly manage a team of up to 100 seasonal employees throughout the busy season.
  • Monitor employee productivity, attendance, scheduling, and hours worked to ensure operational goals are achieved (output standards are executed).
  • Track team performance and proactively identify productivity, quality, or engagement concerns.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and ongoing performance management to seasonal employees.
  • Manage performance escalations, including quality concerns, attendance issues, coaching conversations, documentation, and coordination with People Solutions as appropriate.
  • Ensure team members consistently follow established BT Prep processes, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Communicate priorities, operational updates, and expectations to team members through regular meetings and follow-up communications.
  • Partner closely with fellow managers and BT Prep leadership to support a seasonal workforce of more than 400 temporary employees.
  • Participate in weekly manager meetings and other operational planning sessions.
  • Collaborate across the management team to share best practices, resolve issues, and ensure a consistent employee experience.
  • Escalate operational risks and recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency and the overall team experience.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging team culture throughout the busy season.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience leading teams in a fast-paced operational, customer service, professional services, or production environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing employee performance, coaching, and difficult conversations.
  • Experience recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding employees preferred.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage large teams with multiple competing priorities.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish accountability while maintaining a positive and engaging work environment.
  • Experience tracking productivity metrics and using data to drive decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Teams, Outlook, Excel, and other collaboration tools.
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems and operational processes.
  • Tax experience is not required; experience leading people and managing operations is the primary qualification.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship required.

The pay rate range for this job position is $25.00 to $84.00 per hour. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of relevant factors including but not limited to applicant's skills, prior experience, qualifications, degrees, professional certifications, work arrangements and geographic location. Baker Tilly offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package to eligible employees.
