About the role

As the Manager, Application Development, you will lead a team of developers in the planning, design, coordination and implementation of software applications. You will be responsible in managing relationships with various stakeholders and take the lead during requirements gathering. You should have an appetite for development opportunity and a drive to achieve greatness. You will work on core products, growth division products and even new products development when there's an opportunity. This role calls for immense professional and personal growth opportunity, where you will have direct influence on the scaling of system and product growth for Info-Tech Research Group. 

Minimum qualifications: 

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Application Development, or Information Technology
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on technical leadership and people management experience        
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing technical direction of large-scale projects 
  • Strong communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams
  • Ability to analyze processes and information, identify problems and trends, and develop effective solutions and strategies

Preferred qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in Development
  • Agile Certification or Project Management Certification
  • Exposure to Ruby on Rails
  • Experience working within a cloud-based infrastructure

Major Responsibilities:

  • Define technical solutions and research alternatives to meet business requirement goals, end user requirements and system requirements
  • Organize and facilitate project planning, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos and other Scrum-related meetings. Track and communicate team velocity and sprint/release progress.
  • Define system responsibilities and document data flows between systems
  • Write epics and detailed user stories to populate the product backlog. Estimate stories in the backlog to facilitate release planning, project approvals and prioritization
  • Manage and provide direction for the application development team in support of business operations. Approve and schedule holidays and absences for team members. Maintain a minimum team size
  • Advocate ongoing system updates including hardware and platform solutions
  • Provide technical leadership to programmers working on development project teams
  • Ensure the development teams are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility

Language Skills: Bilingual proficiency in French, Spanish or German is preferred to support our diverse client base across North America and globally.
