Job description

LaBella Associates seeks an experienced, collaborative, and strategic leader to serve as a senior Technical Advisor based in our Ballston Spa, NY office in a hybrid work environment.
The Senior Technical Advisor will provide high-level technical guidance and strategic oversight for complex brownfield redevelopment, environmental remediation, and site development projects, primarily in New York State regulatory programs. This role is intended for a seasoned professional with extensive industry experience who can serve as a trusted advisor to clients and project teams, support business development efforts, mentor staff, and help guide successful project delivery.
The ideal candidate will leverage their technical expertise, industry relationships, and understanding of regulatory and redevelopment processes to support both public and private sector clients while helping expand LaBella's presence in key markets.
Duties:
Strategic Advisory: Provide senior-level technical and regulatory guidance to clients, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams on complex brownfield redevelopment, environmental remediation, and site development projects.
Project Oversight: Support the successful planning and execution of projects by providing high-level direction related to project strategy, technical approaches, risk management, budgeting/billing, regulatory coordination, and client objectives.
Business Development: Identify and cultivate opportunities with existing and prospective clients. Support proposal development, client engagement, strategic partnerships, and other business development activities that contribute to the growth of LaBella's environmental and redevelopment services.
Client Relations: Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders, fostering long-term relationships and helping clients navigate complex project and regulatory challenges.
Technical Leadership: Act as a subject matter expert on brownfield redevelopment, environmental remediation, and related regulatory programs. Provide guidance on emerging industry trends, best practices, and innovative approaches to project delivery.
Regulatory Coordination: Facilitate productive interactions between clients, regulatory agencies, and project teams to advance project objectives and support successful outcomes.
Mentoring: Support the professional development of technical and project management staff through mentoring, coaching, knowledge sharing, and strategic guidance.
Collaboration: Work closely with technical, project management, and business development teams across the company to support integrated project delivery and organizational growth.
The position may require occasional overnight travel.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, Planning, Environmental Management, or a related field.
  • 30+ years of progressively responsible experience in environmental consulting, environmental remediation, brownfield redevelopment, site development, regulatory compliance, or related fields.
  • Extensive experience managing, advising, or overseeing complex brownfield redevelopment and environmental remediation projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise working with New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) regulations, programs, and permitting processes.
  • Significant experience with the New York State Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP), including remediation, redevelopment, regulatory coordination, and project implementation.
  • Proven ability to provide strategic guidance and technical leadership on multidisciplinary environmental and redevelopment projects.
  • Established professional relationships within the environmental consulting, development, regulatory, and redevelopment communities.
  • Successful track record of supporting business development initiatives, client relationship management, proposal development, and strategic growth efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex technical, regulatory, and stakeholder challenges while maintaining project objectives and client satisfaction.
  • Experience mentoring technical and project management staff and supporting professional development within a collaborative team environment.

Compensation
The hourly rate for this position is expected to be between $65.00 and $70.00 per hour, depending on qualifications, experience, education, licensure, and other business considerations. This is a part-time, non-exempt position with a hybrid work arrangement based out of LaBella Associates' Ballston Spa, NY office.
