We are looking to hire a Quality Lab Technician II immediately at our Technical Innovation Center in Hunt Valley, Maryland.

Position Overview:

Under the direct supervision of senior personnel, the Lab Technician II will be responsible for ensuring the accurate testing of seasonings, condiments, and other products used to create flavors. The position requires the ability to perform daily and monthly instrument checks, as well as preparing standard solutions, and the ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities. The position will also support shelf-life testing and will be required to participate in proficiency testing schemes. The role is also open to potential cross-training opportunities within the department.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct analytical testing as per example:
    • Seasonings & Condiments: Density, Salt, Acidity, Color, pH, Brix, Fat, Moisture
    • Other Testing: UV-Vis, Gas Chromatography
  • Accurately enter test data into Power Apps. Utilization of SAP for appropriate transactions.
  • Interprets lab SOPs.  Must be able to record and maintain accurate data.
  • Perform sanitation duties, proper housekeeping, and adhere to safety guidelines.
  • Perform calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Extracts Testing – UV-VIS, Gas Chromatography, and HPLC.
  • Alcohol analysis via Gas Chromatography for select flavors.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and/or Food Science
  • Associate’s degree in Chemistry and/or Food Science with a minimum of a minimum of 1-2 years’ lab experience, including the ability to maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs)
  • Proven ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems.
  • Proven ability to make sound decisions based on analysis and reason.
  • Strong math skills, including computations, decimal/fraction conversions, and measurements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and contribute effectively as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing practices in work environment.
  • Strong computer skills – proficient with Microsoft applications, SAP and DevEx experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in an environment in which fumes, odors and dust are constant is required.

Base Salary: $21.60 - $32.40

Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan/McCormick’s Dividend Program.
