Job requirements

Role: Product Owner / Business Analyst – Risk Analytics (Axioma Transformation)

Years of Experience: 10+ years

Location: Chicago, Illinois (Onsite)

As a consultant within the Vertical team, you will work with our clients to define their digital strategy and execution roadmap, and design and implement differentiated digital solutions to help deliver measurable value.

Job Description:

We are looking for a Product Owner / Senior Business Analyst with strong Financial Services and Risk Management domain expertise, ideally with risk management experience in the context of platforms such as Barra, Aladdin, Axioma, or similar, to lead a strategic initiative to replace an existing Barra risk analytics platform with Axioma.

This individual will serve as the lead from a Business Analysis and Product Ownership perspective, acting as the key bridge between business stakeholders (Portfolio Managers, Risk Analysts) and technology teams (engineering, data, integration).

Key Responsibilities

Act as the lead Business Analyst / Product Owner for the Axioma risk analytics implementation and Barra decommissioning effort.

Own and drive end to end analysis, including current state assessment of Barra usage and definition of the target state Axioma architecture and processes.

Define and manage the product backlog, including epics, features, and user stories, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

Partner closely with engineering teams to translate business requirements into clear, implementable functional and technical specifications.

Partner with Portfolio Managers, Risk Analysts, and Investment teams to define and validate enterprise risk analytics requirements, spanning factor exposures and portfolio and benchmark risk.

Ensure functional parity or enhancement when transitioning from Barra to Axioma, identifying gaps, risks, and remediation plans.

Support validation and sign off of risk outputs during parallel runs and UAT.

Lead requirements related to data sourcing, data quality, lineage, and governance for risk analytics.

Navigate and analyze relational databases to understand upstream and downstream data dependencies.

Define and review API based integrations, batch interfaces, and data feeds between Axioma and internal systems.

Act as the primary liaison between business, technology, vendor, and data teams.

Facilitate workshops, sprint ceremonies, design reviews, and stakeholder updates.

Proactively manage scope, dependencies, risks, and delivery milestones.

Ensure documentation standards are met, including BRDs, FRDs, data mappings, and process flows.

Qualifications & Experience

8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or Product Analyst in Financial Services.

Strong risk management and investment domain knowledge, ideally across multiple asset classes.

Hands on experience with risk analytics platforms, with a strong preference for Axioma or Barra; exposure to Aladdin or similar investment platforms is highly desirable.

Solid understanding of portfolio risk and factor based models, including risk decomposition, scenarios, and stress testing.

Proven ability to work with relational databases (including SQL, data models, and mappings) and to understand and define API based system integrations.

Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging front office and risk users.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex concepts to both technical and non technical audiences.

Candidates with prior Barra → Axioma or Aladdin → risk analytics transformation experience will be preferred.
