Bridge Program Coordinator Jobs (NOW HIRING)

Under the direction of the Engineering Department Construction Management Division Manager, the Bridge Program Manager manages ongoing capital improvement work for County bridges and performs highly skilled duties for projects and is responsible for contracts, inspections, personnel, cost analysis, design plan reviews, and specifications. This position is required to manage inspections of these structures and promptly address corrective action notices from the Florida Department of Transportation. This class reports to the Construction Management Division Manager in the Engineering Department.

This is a "mandatory-testing" position that requires Drug Testing.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Responsible for the activities of the bridge program and other capital improvement projects, including programming, planning, coordinating, administering, and evaluating the program, projects, processes, procedures, systems, standards and/or service offerings; participates in the development of strategic planning to accomplish goals; ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, codes and/or standards; manages structural tasks on projects involving design of various bridge types, as well as miscellaneous civil structures and reviews related plans and specifications; coordinates maintenance and minor repairs with the Public Works Department

Plans, develops, analyzes data, analyzes inspection reports, and implements complex projects in assigned area of responsibility, including bridges, bridge rehabilitation; checks, interprets and reviews engineering drawings

Initiates contract bidding and administration

Prepares, reviews, interprets, and analyzes a variety of information, engineering data, and reports; makes recommendations based on findings; communicates pertinent information to internal and external parties

Reviews preliminary and final plans and technical specifications, contract documents and estimates, and makes recommendations for additions, deletions, and substitutions when modifications are necessary

Provides preliminary and construction cost estimating; provides input on the selection of cost-efficient bridges and other structural systems

Plans, schedules, or coordinates structural/civil engineering work

Provides technical guidance to lower-level staff, senior management, and/or other interested parties

Facilitates and/or represents the division or County at a variety of meetings, public events, training sessions, on committees, and/or related events

Develops and administers budgets associated with personnel, operating costs, and capital costs; approves expenditures; reviews financial statements; manages financial operations

Researches, prepares, and executes presentations to the Board of County Commissioners, County Administration, and applicable parties regarding operational issues requiring their approval

Performs other duties as assigned

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Training and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a construction related field and a minimum of six years of work experience in bridge construction, bridge rehabilitation, and/or bridge construction management, and at least one year of experience in a supervisory role; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.

Licenses and Certifications:

Must possess a valid driver's license from state of residence

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional Engineer (P.E.)

Master's degree in Structural Engineering

National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) certification

Bridge rehab skills

Experience in design with structural steel, conventional and post-tensioned concrete, masonry, and high wind design

Experience in roadways, bridges, and stormwater

General understanding of geotechnical engineering evaluations

AutoCAD design/Autodesk Revit/or other applicable computer programs for bridge design/analysis

During emergency conditions, the incumbent of this position will automatically be considered an emergency service worker. This employee is subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and is expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Positions in this class typically require climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, finger and hand dexterity, and repetitive motions. Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, intense noises, and travel.
