The job duties of a bridge painter focus on adding paint or another coating to bridges. Your responsibilities in this career often include performing other maintenance on bridges as well. In addition to painting, you also apply varnish, waterproof membranes, or anti-rust materials to bridges. This job requires you to climb on the bridge structure, so you must be able to work at great heights. You also prepare steel or other surfaces with primer or sandblasters. A bridge painter must have both painting and climbing skills to work on different construction or manufacturing projects. You may also paint water towers, cell phone towers, and other steel structures.
