Job description

Summary/Objective
The Glue Bridge Operator performs all tasks involved in the production of Corsicana Mattress Company products as assigned by the Plant Manager and/or Production Supervisor.  The operator assembles mattresses in accordance to the production schedule, produces Foam Core and Foam Encases mattresses and Gluing of Pillow Top if needed.  Assembles Form Core and Foam Encases mattresses according to specifications in order to complete the pieces in an efficient, fast-paced and accurate manner.  The operator follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible in order to support the production goals and corporate values of Corsicana Mattress Company.

Essential Functions:
  • Prepares work area by preparing glue station for operation and stocks supplies according to the daily production work load.
  • Follows appropriate production schedule and current manufacturing procedures to produce mattresses.
  • Assembles Foam Core or Foam Encased mattresses utilizing the correct components in accordance to our specifications and assembles with hot melt or water-based adhesive, working within a team operation or in combination with other employees as needed or instructed.
  • Completes any necessary paperwork or production related documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Achieves or exceeds daily production and quality goals.
  • Complies with all department and company safety rules.
  • Reports machine problems outside of operator’s capability to correct to the Production Supervisor or Plant Manager.
  • Maintains a clean work area and completes daily area clean-up tasks at the end of shift.  Properly disposes of trash and scrap at the end of the shift and as often as needed.
  • Notifies Production Supervisor of any mechanical or material issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Competencies:
  • Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions.
  • Must grip, push, pull, and reach over shoulder level with both hands.
  • While performing duties, operator will regularly be required to stand, walk, stoop, and bend in order to operate equipment.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
  • May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Prior assembly or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Good hand/eye coordination.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan and organize.
  • Has good time management skills.
  • Cooperative, team oriented, patient, calm under pressure, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to function in fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Work Environment: The employee will generally be housed in a non-climate controlled, well-lit environment.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands: Be able to lift up to 80 lbs, be able to stand for long periods of time.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Full Time 40/hr.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
