Position Overview
Kiewit Bridge & Marine is seeking a Safety Training Coordinator to support the Mobile Bridge Project by planning, coordinating, delivering, and tracking safety training programs for craft professionals, field supervisors, and project staff. This role is responsible for ensuring all project personnel receive the required safety orientation, regulatory training, and project-specific instruction necessary to safely perform work on one of North America's premier bridge construction projects.
The Safety Training Coordinator will work closely with project leadership, safety professionals, field operations teams, and subcontractors to foster a culture of safety excellence through effective training, competency development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
District Overview
Kiewit Bridge & Marine District specializes in the construction of complex transportation infrastructure projects across North America. The district delivers major bridge, marine, and heavy civil projects, including cable-stayed bridges, suspension bridges, movable bridges, ports, terminals, wharves, piers, and waterfront structures. Leveraging self-perform capabilities, Bridge & Marine executes critical work such as foundations, marine operations, structural concrete, steel erection, and heavy lifts, providing clients with safe, innovative, and high-quality solutions on some of the industry's most challenging projects.
Location
This position is based in Mobile, Alabama. Out of region candidates may be eligible for relocation assistance. #LI-RP1
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and administer new-hire orientations and project-specific safety onboarding programs.
  • Schedule, conduct, and track mandatory safety training for employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
  • Maintain training records and ensure compliance with project, client, regulatory, and company requirements.
  • Deliver training related to fall protection, confined space entry, rigging, crane safety, marine operations, personal protective equipment (PPE), and other construction safety topics.
  • Support compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety standards.
  • Develop training materials, presentations, toolbox talks, and safety awareness campaigns.
  • Monitor upcoming certification expirations and coordinate refresher training.
  • Work with field supervision to identify training gaps and competency development needs.
  • Assist with incident investigations by identifying training-related corrective actions and lessons learned.
  • Support emergency response drills and preparedness training activities.
  • Audit training documentation and verify workforce qualifications before work assignments.
  • Generate reports and training metrics for project leadership and client reporting requirements.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through coaching, engagement, and continuous communication with field personnel.
  • Assist with implementation of Kiewit's safety programs, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent construction industry experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience coordinating or delivering safety training in heavy civil, bridge, marine, industrial, or commercial construction environments.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices.
  • Experience maintaining training records and managing training compliance programs.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to engage diverse audiences ranging from craft workers to project leadership.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and learning management systems (LMS).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic construction environment and travel throughout the project site.
