Hut 8

Job description

That is what Hut 8 is building.

We are an energy and compute platform operating at the intersection of power and technology. We build and operate critical infrastructure that converts electrons into human progress. We own the full stack, from power generation to compute delivery. We don't outsource the hard problems. We don't accept the way things have always been done. We believe that if we can build infrastructure smarter, faster, and at greater scale than anyone else, we can build one of the most important companies of the next era.

Today, Hut 8 manages over 1,000 MW of energy capacity across 15 North American sites. Our development pipeline spans 8,650 MW, incorporating hydro, nuclear, wind, and solar. We are building toward a future where AI designs our facilities, robotics build them, and autonomous systems operate them. This is not a distant aspiration. It is the next chapter, and we are actively building toward it.

We are headquartered in Brickell, Miami, one of the fastest-growing tech hubs in North America, and we are moving to a new campus at the center of it all. We are one of the fastest-growing companies in Florida, and we intend to help define what the next era of Miami tech looks like.

Why This Role Exists

Building a fast-growth technology company in Miami is one of the great challenges and great privileges in tech right now. In 2021, the wave of talent moving here was electric. In 2022 and 2023, there was a lull. Now there's a reinvigoration. People are moving here again, building again, and betting on Miami as a serious place to do serious work.

But the reality is that most of the hard-pressing, want-to-be-in-the-pulse-of-the-action talent still defaults to New York or San Francisco. Miami has to earn them. And that means someone has to build the connective tissue, the community, the events, the gravity, that makes Miami a place builders choose on purpose.

This role is Hut 8's investment in the Miami community. Not a marketing exercise. A genuine commitment to cultivating what "new Miami tech" means: bringing together the builders who are here because they want to build things that are meaningful, not because of the glitz and glamour. They love the weather, they love the lifestyle, but they came here to create.

Hut 8 will use the new campus it's building in the center of Brickell to anchor this effort, hosting events, convening founders, and assembling a forum of companies who want to invest in this initiative together. The goal is to build the best tech community in Miami, and we want to be the company that leads it.

About the Role

You will report directly to the CEO and own a single, ambitious mission: make Hut 8 the center of gravity for Miami's tech ecosystem.

This is not a comms role with a community component bolted on. This is ecosystem leadership. You're the person who knows every founder, investor, and operator building something consequential in Miami. You're the person who can pick up the phone and fill a room with the right people. You're the person who turns Hut 8's Brickell campus into the place where Miami's tech community comes together.

You're building something new. This is a leadership role, and you'll have the mandate, the resources, and the direct line to the CEO to make it happen.

What You'll Do

Build the Miami Tech Community Around Hut 8

  • Become the connective tissue between Hut 8 and Miami's tech ecosystem. You are the person founders, investors, engineers, and operators know and trust as the hub of the community.
  • Develop and lead a forum of companies who want to co-invest in building Miami's tech ecosystem, turning this from a Hut 8 initiative into a coalition.
  • Build deep, authentic relationships across Miami's tech, venture, and startup communities. Know the players, the momentum, and the gaps.
  • Cultivate the next generation of Miami tech by connecting builders, hosting conversations, and creating the spaces where real collaboration happens.

Own the Brickell Campus as a Community Platform

  • Plan, program, and host tech events, meetups, founder dinners, and community gatherings at Hut 8's new Brickell headquarters. Make it the place where Miami's tech community wants to be.
  • Develop and execute a conference and events strategy. Identify key Miami-area tech conferences, secure speaking engagements for Hut 8 leadership, and manage sponsorships.
  • Create a recognizable Hut 8 community brand in Miami that is synonymous with the builders, not the spectators.

Amplify Hut 8's Presence in Miami

  • Own Hut 8's local media strategy, securing coverage in Miami-area press and positioning the company as the anchor tech company in the region.
  • Partner with the People team to position Hut 8 as a top employer in Miami's tech ecosystem, leveraging community presence, events, and relationships to build a talent pipeline.
  • Collaborate with the broader Communications & Strategy team to ensure local efforts align with Hut 8's national and global messaging.

Who You Are

  • Deeply embedded in the Miami tech scene. You know the founders building consequential companies, the investors backing them, the venues, the events, and the energy. You've been in the arena for the last several years and have built a strong, authentic local network.
  • A connector by nature. Your Rolodex is your superpower. You can fill a room with the right 50 people on two weeks' notice, because you've built real relationships, not just collected business cards.
  • Tech background. You understand the industry and can speak credibly with founders, engineers, and investors. You've either built a company, worked at a high-growth startup, or been embedded in the ecosystem in a way that gives you genuine fluency.
  • You're comfortable building from scratch, owning outcomes, and moving fast. This role has no playbook. You're writing it.
  • Mission-driven about Miami. You're not here for the scene. You're here because you believe Miami can be a world-class tech city, and you want to help build it.
  • Excellent communicator. Written, verbal, and interpersonal. You can work a room, write a compelling pitch, and inspire people to show up and participate.
  • Experience in community building, ecosystem development, PR/comms, or event management, ideally in a tech context. The title matters less than the track record.

ABOUT THE WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is in office at our corporate headquarters in the Brickell area of Miami, Florida. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
