Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Pre-Term Cable Breakout Specialistis responsible forthe setup of fiber optic cables or coils at thePre-Termbreakout area/table(s). This includes verification of the factory order,term sheet, cable print, length and breakout/preprequirementsand scanning of the factory order into the Production Tracking System.

The Pre-Term Specialist is responsible for the removal of the outer jacket and tube(s) from the cable, which includes measure, mark and cut back of the cable to order specific length, careful removal of the buffer tube or ribbon matrix, cleaning and fanning out the fibers on to the breakout table, installation of transition tubing and hardware, completion of paperwork, transfer of the cable status in PTS and movement of the cable to the assembly area.

The Pre-Term Specialist is also responsible formaintaininga clean,neatand safe work area.

ESSENTIAL WORK CATEGORIES:

Cable Breakout
Position cable at breakout table area, retrieve factory order(factory order and term sheetMUST match),review requirements and scan order into PTS, remove cable ties and review sequential length. Retrieve tools, measure and mark cable at breakout length as specified on term sheet. Remove outer jacket, strength elements, filler rods and buffer tube or ribbon matrix. Clean fiber and layout on table, place protective tubes over each fiber and secure in place. Install hardware and shrink tubing (ifrequired) glue or usehot airblower to secure in place asrequired.

Data Entry/Documentation
Scan factory order into system, input required data pre and post cable moves. Complete required manual entries on factory order (sequential verification),complete daily time reports.

Miscellaneous Duties
Retrieveneedsupplies,equipmentand tools. Communicate (troubleshoot problems) with Engineering and other manufacturing/assembly areas.

Education, and Certification:

High School or Equivalent.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:

  • Demonstrate effective communications (verbal, written) skills
  • Complete cable within 7-10 hours
  • Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel
  • Maintain discretion when working with confidential and proprietary information
  • Strict adherence to Company safety policies and procedures
