POSITION SUMMARY:
The YMCA of McCook is a leading nonprofit organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Gym Supervisor delivers excellent customer service to all members, guests, program participants, and volunteers while supporting the Sports Director in the daily operations of YMCA sports programs and events. The primary responsibility is to assist with the setup, supervision, breakdown of sports programs and maintaining facility standards for cleanliness, while ensuring a safe, organized, and positive environment for all participants.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Build relationships with members, prospective members, program participants, volunteers, and staff to gain and retain memberships.
- Assists with the setup, adjustment, and breakdown of sports equipment for practices, games, tournaments, and special events, including adjusting equipment heights and configurations as needed.
- Distributes, collects, organizes, and stores sports equipment before and after programs and events.
- Assists the Sports Director with supervising open gym, sports programs, leagues, clinics, and special events to ensure smooth operations and participant safety.
- Supervises designated program areas to ensure facilities are clean, organized, and operating according to YMCA policies and safety guidelines.
- Relates to the public in a positive manner by addressing member concerns, interacting with participants, and reporting unusual situations or unresolved issues to a supervisor.
- Assists with the cleaning of the gymnasium and sports equipment, equipment inventory, maintenance, and reporting damaged or missing equipment.
- Helps maintain program schedules and supports staff, coaches, officials, and volunteers as needed during events.
- Ensures all equipment and program areas are returned to proper condition at the conclusion of each shift.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
· 16 years old or older
· Integrity and ability to work independently with attention to detail required
· Demonstrated leadership, dependability, and flexibility in work hours
· Must be available to work afternoons, evenings, and/or weekend shifts
· Ability to lift, carry, move, and set up sports equipment safely
· Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
· Background checks will be performed, and abuse prevention training will be required upon hire
· CPR and First Aid preferred; certification opportunities available upon hire
