Bread Route Delivery information

What is a bread route delivery?

The job of a bread route delivery driver is to deliver bread, rolls, buns, and other bakery products to restaurants and stores within a territory, often via a large truck. Most deliveries are made in the morning, though especially popular locations may need one or two additional deliveries throughout the day. Bread route delivery jobs often involve loading and unloading heavy racks of products, light janitorial work, and working outdoors throughout the year. This is a largely unsupervised job, so the ability to work independently is essential to success. The primary qualifications for this position are a valid driver’s license for the appropriately sized vehicle.

What are some common challenges faced by bread route delivery drivers, and how can they be managed?

Bread Route Delivery drivers often encounter challenges such as tight delivery schedules, early morning start times, and managing inventory accurately. Navigating traffic and ensuring fresh product delivery while maintaining good relationships with store managers can also be demanding. Effective time management, strong organizational skills, and proactive communication with retailers help overcome these challenges. Many drivers find success by planning routes efficiently and staying adaptable to last-minute changes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a bread route delivery driver, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Bread Route Delivery Driver, you need a valid driver’s license, good driving record, physical stamina, and basic math skills for handling orders and payments. Familiarity with route planning software, handheld inventory devices, and GPS navigation systems is typically required. Strong customer service, time management, and reliability help drivers build trust with clients and ensure timely deliveries. These skills are crucial for maintaining customer satisfaction, accurate order fulfillment, and efficient route management in a time-sensitive business.

What is a bread route delivery?

A bread route delivery job involves transporting and delivering bread and other baked goods from a bakery or distributor to various retail locations, such as grocery stores, restaurants, or convenience stores. Drivers are typically responsible for loading their delivery vehicle, following a set route, and ensuring that products are delivered fresh and on time. They may also be responsible for stocking shelves, rotating inventory, and maintaining good relationships with store managers. Some bread route delivery jobs are independent contractor positions where the driver owns the route, while others are traditional employee roles. Attention to detail, customer service skills, and punctuality are important in this line of work.

Job description

Jimmy John's Delivery Biker's goal is to get that sandwich in the customer's hand as quick as can be. We do this by learning the most efficient route, double checking orders to ensure everything is accounted for, and hustling on our feet (while always being safe and law abiding while on the street). While not on the road, Bikers work in-shop and get compensated accordingly. Delivery is a customer service job, so following customer's request and doing it with a smile can lead to more successful days.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must provide your own bike and helmet
  • Work as an In-shopper when there are no deliveries
Company Introduction

We slice our all-natural* meats and fresh veggies in-house every day. Our fresh-baked bread is made right here where you can see it, and our house-made tuna salad is fresh every day. The flavor of a ripe tomato, crisp shredded lettuce, combined with fresh-baked bread, fresh-sliced meat and real Hellmann's® mayo - that's when the magic happens. Made with love every single day since 1983. That's Jimmy Fresh!
