About the Role

SC Johnson's BPT (Business Process & Technology) department is currently undergoing a significant strategic transformation, and as the Manager, Procurement-BPT, you will be instrumental in driving this change. This role encompasses full oversight of the strategic sourcing and procurement processes for BPT categories, managing a spend of $130 million, and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Responsibilities include strategic planning, sourcing and procurement management, supplier relationship management, and internal customer relationship management. This role aims to maximize value and ROI, while minimizing risk and ensuring high-quality delivery and performance in this essential category.

Key Responsibilities

1. BPT Procurement Strategy

  • Develop and implement the BPT procurement strategy to align with the company’s overall technology and business goals.

  • Identify and leverage opportunities to optimize supply sources, manage costs, and drive value creation.

  • Establish contingency plans to ensure continuity of BPT supply in critical areas.

2. Sourcing and Contract Management

  • Lead the strategic sourcing process for BPT, including hardware, software, cloud services, telecom, and IT consultancy.

  • Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships to secure the best terms, ensuring alignment with business requirements.

  • Oversee the end-to-end contract management process, ensuring compliance, risk mitigation, and the smooth implementation of new contracts.

  • Implement total cost of ownership (TCO) models to ensure that the long-term value of procurement decisions is maximized.

3. Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)

  • Develop and manage strategic relationships with key BPT suppliers, ensuring long-term partnerships that meet the organization's objectives.

  • In partnership with the Vendor Management team, conduct regular supplier performance reviews, setting metrics and KPIs to measure success and drive continuous improvement.

  • Serve as the escalation point for major supplier issues, ensuring quick resolution and minimal disruption to business operations.

5. Market Intelligence and Innovation

  • Stay updated on the latest market trends, technologies, and best practices in BPT procurement.

  • Leverage market insights to make informed recommendations and decisions that support innovation and competitive advantage.

  • Monitor changes in the BPT landscape, adapting procurement strategies to capitalize on new technologies and services.

6. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Understand customer needs and summarize business requirements to inform company-wide sourcing efforts. Identify and manage priorities for ongoing, new, and changing business activities.

  • Work closely with teams such as BPT, Finance, and Legal to ensure procurement supports business goals.

  • Communicate procurement strategies and updates to key stakeholders, ensuring alignment and transparency across departments.

7. Team management

  • Lead and develop internal team member to drive results on all procurement initiatives.

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience considered in lieu of education requirement.

  • 7+ years of professional experience in procurement/strategic sourcing.

  • 2+ years of experience in IT/IS procurement.

Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies

  • Masters/MBA preferred.

  • Demonstrates Strategic Thinking, Strong Stakeholder Management, and Strong negotiation Skills

  • Sound knowledge of modern procurement processes, systems and tools.

  • Knowledge of critical procurement legal requirements and contracting best practices.

  • Experience in project management of cross-functional and global teams.

  • Strong strategic, analytical and conceptual skills coupled with entrepreneurial thinking.

  • Passion for IT and strong knowledge of digitization and digital capabilities.

  • Demonstrated sense of urgency and decisiveness; takes prompt action to accomplish goals; proactively attempts to influence events rather than passively accept outcomes.

  • Excellent communication, influence and interpersonal skills. Can effectively communicate new ideas to audiences ranging from team members to Senior Leadership.

  • Strong financial analysis – can gather, organize and evaluate financial data in order to support business decision making.

  • Excellent risk and opportunity management- Identify, assess, prioritize, document and manage risk and its impact.

  • Team player who can manage ambiguity and work within a matrix environment.
