About bp
bp operates at the heart of the global energy system, helping countries meet their energy needs and serving millions of customers every day. With world-class assets, technology, trading capability and partnerships, we deliver energy at scale today while investing with discipline in the energy transition.
About early careers
Your talent. Your skills. Your big ideas (and even bigger dreams). We know you have a lot to give. So we'll make sure you get a lot in return. From next-level experiences to global impact. From inspiring teammates to exceptional support - we offer graduate and internship roles across multiple areas.
Our supply, trading & shipping graduate program
Fast-moving. High impact. Full of possibility. In supply, trading & shipping (ST&S), every decision matters - and you'll be making them sooner than you think.
Why work in ST&S at bp?
  • Play a role in powering economies worldwide.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment where every second counts.
  • Build future-proof skills that open up many different career paths.
  • Learn from experienced teams who'll help you grow your commercial confidence.

As an ST&S graduate, you'll complete three rotations designed to give you breadth of experience across your chosen business area while also supporting you to build technical depth. From analysing data to influencing decision making, to building customer relationships and shaping deals - this programme gives you the exposure and experience to start building a future in commercial business.
Join us and you'll get the support of a structured technical pathway and our training programme, helping you grow both professionally and personally. In return, you'll bring your ideas, curiosity and ambition to real business challenges. Along the way, you'll be part of a supportive bp early careers community that will help you grow, succeed and make a meaningful impact from day one.
Please apply to one track only.
About the Trading track within the ST&S graduate program
As a participant in bp's three-year Supply, Trading & Shipping Trader Development Program, you'll gain hands-on experience across commodity markets while developing the technical, analytical, and commercial skills needed for a successful trading career. Working alongside experienced traders, analysts, and operators, you'll contribute to commercial decision-making, analyze market fundamentals, support trading strategies, and help identify opportunities across North American energy markets. Successful candidates will participate in a structured three-year rotational program designed to accelerate development into future trading professionals. Rotations may include commodity trading, market analytics, commercial strategy, physical operations, risk management, and trading analysis across multiple energy markets.
Joining our energy trading team, you will be part of managing our trades on the major energy commodity exchanges and the Over-the-Counter market as well as our daily exposure to global market developments. You will have the opportunity to experience different trading disciplines and styles from physical trading to financial trading. Beyond that, you will have the chance to work across rotations, including market analytics, physical operations, and working as trading analyst for one of our trading benches.
The areas of exposure can include, but are not limited to:
  • Structured technical and commercial training
  • Mentorship from experienced traders and industry leaders
