Job description

The North River Family Y is looking for an energetic and knowledgeable BoxFit Instructor who is passionate about helping members improve their fitness, confidence, and overall wellness through boxing-inspired workouts. The instructor must be able to lead safe, engaging, and motivating BoxFit classes for participants of varying fitness levels while promoting the core values and mission of the YMCA. The instructor will encourage proper technique, provide movement modifications, and create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants.

The schedule is for Monday and Wednesday 6-6:45pm.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides energizing, fun, safe, and educational BoxFit classes that support the YMCA mission and goals

Leads participants through boxing-inspired cardio and strength workouts, including proper form and technique

Builds effective, authentic relationships with members and helps foster a positive class environment

Provides modifications and encouragement to accommodate different fitness and ability levels

Ensures all fitness equipment and workout spaces are clean, organized, and maintained properly

Maintains class attendance records and communicates effectively with wellness staff and members

QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous group fitness, boxing fitness, or personal training experience preferred

National group fitness certification or boxing fitness certification preferred

CPR, First Aid, AED (we can get you certified if you don't have this one!)

Ability to motivate and engage participants in a group fitness setting

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to conduct group fitness classes and demonstrate exercises safely and effectively

Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and demonstrating boxing and fitness movements

Ability to lift and move fitness equipment as needed for class setup and breakdown
