Position

Retail Associate (seasonal, through the end of December)

Location

154 E. Front St., Traverse City, MI

Summary of Position

Cherry Republic’s Retail Associate helps provide a quality customer service experience by assisting customers and giving overall support to Retail Management and staff. This role is cross‑trained to work in several customer‑facing areas, including cashier, sales floor, and wine & soda tasting. Because this position serves alcohol, the Retail Associate must be at least 17 years old.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Retail Management as directed in accomplishing operational and customer service tasks.
  • Enforce Cherry Republic customer service expectations through example.
  • Follow and enforce policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a positive attitude while delivering quality customer service.
  • Provide backup and shared ownership for Retail Management.
  • Support store events and company‑wide initiatives.
  • Handle cash and manage Point of Sale (POS) operations.
  • Monitor appearance and cleanliness of the Retail Store.
  • Apply practices from CR 101 training based on customer service guidelines.
  • Inform customers of daily specials, sales, Ship from Store, and upsell opportunities.
  • Ensure merchandise is clean, display‑ready, and merchandised to company standards.
  • Maintain floor inventory so the store appears full.
  • Perform Ship from Store processes.
Skills You Need
  • Excellent communicator; capable of delivering superior customer service.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Organized, team player familiar with Cherry Republic culture.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all cherry products sold in store.
  • Ability to sell to customers’ needs and build relationships with returning customers.
  • Self‑motivated, multi‑tasking, and detail‑oriented.
Supervisory Responsibilities

The Retail Associate reports to appointed store management members and has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Language Skills: Ability to read, present information, and respond to questions from clients, customers, managers, and the general public.

Computer Skills: Knowledge of our POS system including Ship From the Store (SFTS), mail order software (R4), and the Google platform.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to communicate accurately, timely, and thoroughly to customers and staff.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods on the sales floor, walk long distances, lift 25 lbs or more, reach, bend, crouch, use a ladder, and handle tools for displays. Frequent bagging and gift boxing when cashiering. Occasional outside maintenance such as snow shoveling.

Your Work Environment: Maintain a flexible schedule and be available when needed at the store. Duties may include snow shoveling in winter and ladder work up to 12 feet.
