Job description

JOB SUMMARY: The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations and leading a team of Inventory Analysts, Pickers, Packers, and Warehouse Associates to ensure operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, and safety compliance. This role provides direction, accountability, and problem-solving support across all shift activities, while driving quality, process consistency, and performance standards. The Warehouse Supervisor partners closely with management and cross-functional departments to ensure smooth workflow, timely shipments, and accurate inventory control. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES 

  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and commitment to operational accuracy. 

  • Oversee and ensure daily inventory accuracy, including reconciliation of variances and resolution of discrepancies. 

  • Supervise, schedule, and allocate workforce to ensure proper staffing levels and efficient workflow. 

  • Lead, train, coach, and monitor Inventory Analysts, Pickers, Packers, and Warehouse Associates on operational procedures and performance expectations. 

  • Drive accountability for productivity, quality standards, and adherence to company policies. 

  • Enforce safe operation of forklifts and material handling equipment in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards. 

  • Monitor workflow throughout the shift to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time. 

  • Identify process gaps and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and reduce errors. 

  • Ensure timely communication with upper management and cross-functional departments regarding operational needs, issues, or delays. 

  • Complete and review daily operational and performance reporting. 

  • Ensure adherence to all GMP, Quality, Safety, and Performance policies and standards. 

  • Oversee receiving operations, including verification and tracking of incoming shipments. 

  • Supervise outbound shipping processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness. 

  • Monitor proper handling, tagging, labeling, and storage of merchandise according to company procedures. 

  • Ensure accurate documentation of shipment arrival and departure times. 

  • Oversee proper boxing, wrapping, and packaging of merchandise in compliance with established standards. 

  • Manage damaged, impaired, or returned merchandise documentation and resolution processes. 

  • When necessary, operate material handling equipment (stand-up lift, reach forklift, or other warehouse equipment). 

  • Oversee accurate data entry and reporting within inventory and logistics software systems. 

  • Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence.+ 

  • Coordinate PM schedules and downtime reduction initiatives with Maintenance providers. 

  • Monitor driver status throughout the day and adjust dispatch plans as conditions change (delays, breakdowns, customer changes, etc.). 

  • Support pre-planned routes while assisting with same-day or short-notice changes. 

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for drivers during assigned shifts. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Education 

  • High School Diploma or GED is required. 

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration or related field preferred 

  • Relevant certifications (e., OSH, Lean Six Sigma, APICS/CPIM) preferred. 

Experience 

  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in warehouse or distribution center operations. 

  • Minimum of 3+ years of direct supervisory or people leadership experience overseeing warehouse teams. 

  • Demonstrated experience managing Inventory Analysts, Pickers, Packers, and Warehouse Associates in a high-volume environment. 

  • Prior experience with performance management, coaching, and employee development. 

  • 3+ years of experience with inventory control, cycle counting, and variance reconciliation processes. 

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic formulas, reporting). 

  • 2+ years of forklift and material handling equipment operation experience; certification preferred. 

  • Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP systems required.
