ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Toffee Packer at Enstrom Candies is responsible for taking the Almond Toffee from its production stage to its finished product stage. The position involves breaking the toffee by hand, packing the toffee into the box, weighing, lidding, sealing and placing the finished boxes in a carton or shipping box. Auxiliary responsibilities include box weight verification, production of packing reports and maintaining area cleanliness.
Other duties to support the full range of activities of the company can include processing shipping labels, light maintenance duties, assisting other departments, preparation of other candy products, and other duties as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
1. Toffee Pack Process to include ensuring quality of toffee and breaking toffee with pre-established breaking techniques
2. Closing liner, ensuring quality of candy pack meets or exceeds standards before lidding
3. Lasering and sealing of product to include setting the laser
4. Operating, trouble shooting and changing over the over wrapper machine
5. Responsible for casing and pre-boxing toffee as directed
6. Run and troubleshoot pre-boxing machine
7. Label making on computerized label system
8. Palletizing cases and shrink-wrapping pallets
9. Moving wrapped pallets to freezer using pallet jack
10. Responsible for ensuring new employees are properly trained
11. Light janitorial duties as assigned
12. Assist in shipping room preparing packages for mail
13. Shared responsibility and participation in GMPs
14. Shared responsibility of maintaining SQF and HACCP compliance
15. Assist other departments as needed
Requirements
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
1. Minimum production standard: Must be able to pack at a minimum two (2) 70-pound batches of toffee per hour. This standard must be met within the first 2 weeks of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. You are required to meet the job description's criteria within two weeks or face possible termination for not meeting the standard requirements.
2. Minimum behavioral requirements: must work well within a team environment; must maintain a positive attitude on the job, must arrive at workstation as scheduled, stay at workstation as assigned and attend work as scheduled.
3. Minimum Physical and aptitude requirements: Basic math skills required. Good vision with or without correction. Stand for most of the day, use repeated wrist motions without distress, high level of manual dexterity required; lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; bend, stoop and kneel; push approximately 500 lbs. on carts; follow directions and safety procedures; have ability read and write in English
4. Tools, Equipment and Machinery used: scales, metal detector, laser, sealer, pre-boxing, box cutter, pallet jack, and carts.
5. Risk of Assault or Injury: Moderate; must follow safety procedures
