Shipping & Receiving Backup
Roseville Precision Inc. | Rocklin, CA | Full-Time | On-Site

Pay: $XX.XX–$XX.XX per hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Monday–Friday | First Shift

This is a full-time, on-site position at our Rocklin, California manufacturing facility. Remote and hybrid arrangements are not available.

Roseville Precision Inc. is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Packing & Assembly Associate to join our precision sheet-metal manufacturing team.

The primary responsibilities of this position are assembling manufactured components and properly packing finished products for shipment. This employee will also be trained to provide backup support in Shipping and Receiving when the primary employee is absent or additional assistance is needed.

The successful candidate must be able to follow drawings, work instructions, packaging requirements, and quality standards while maintaining an organized and efficient workflow. This position requires accuracy, attention to detail, safe material handling, and the ability to adjust priorities based on production and shipping requirements.

Primary Responsibilities: Packing and Assembly:
  • Assemble sheet-metal parts, hardware, and manufactured components according to drawings, work instructions, bills of materials, and customer requirements.
  • Install fasteners, inserts, brackets, labels, seals, and other components using appropriate hand and power tools.
  • Verify that all required components are present before beginning assembly.
  • Confirm part numbers, job numbers, revisions, quantities, and assembly requirements.
  • Inspect components for visible damage, defects, incorrect parts, or workmanship issues before assembly and packing.
  • Ensure assembled products meet applicable drawing, quality, and customer requirements.
  • Immediately report missing components, damaged parts, drawing discrepancies, or quality concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Clean and prepare finished parts before packaging.
  • Select appropriate packaging materials based on the size, weight, finish, and customer requirements of the product.
  • Properly wrap, cushion, separate, box, crate, palletize, and secure products to prevent damage during storage or transportation.
  • Protect painted, powder-coated, plated, machined, and other finished surfaces from scratching or damage.
  • Verify quantities and contents before sealing packages.
  • Apply required labels, part identification, job information, handling instructions, and shipping documentation.
  • Maintain accurate packing records and complete required production paperwork.
  • Move completed products to the proper staging or shipping area.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe assembly and packing workspace.
  • Work with Production, Quality, and Shipping to ensure jobs are completed and prepared for shipment on time.
  • Assist in identifying ways to improve assembly methods, packaging quality, material usage, and workflow efficiency.

Secondary Responsibilities: Shipping and Receiving Backup:
When providing backup coverage or additional support, responsibilities may include:
  • Receive raw materials, purchased parts, hardware, supplies, and outside-processed components.
  • Safely unload and move incoming shipments using pallet jacks, carts, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment.
  • Compare incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Verify part numbers, descriptions, quantities, and material information.
  • Inspect shipments for visible damage, shortages, overages, or incorrect items.
  • Report receiving discrepancies to Purchasing, Quality, or the appropriate supervisor.
  • Enter receiving transactions into the company's ERP system.
  • Label received materials and place them in the appropriate inventory or production location.
  • Collect and route packing slips, material certifications, certificates of conformance, and other required documents.
  • Prepare completed orders for customer shipment.
  • Verify shipping quantities, customer information, delivery requirements, and supporting documentation.
  • Create or assist with packing slips, shipping labels, and bills of lading.
  • Coordinate or assist with parcel, freight, courier, and local delivery pickups.
  • Safely load and stage outgoing shipments.
  • Support cycle counts, inventory organization, and investigation of material discrepancies.

Qualifications:

Preferred Experience:
Experience in any of the following areas is helpful but not required:
  • Packing and assembly in a precision sheet-metal or manufacturing environment.
  • Assembly of sheet-metal parts, hardware, and mechanical components.
  • Packaging powder-coated, painted, machined, or other finished products.
  • Reading manufacturing drawings and bills of materials.
  • Shipping and receiving.
  • UPS, FedEx, LTL freight, and common-carrier shipping systems.
  • ECI JobBOSS, JobBOSS², E2, or another ERP/MRP system.
  • Material certifications and manufacturing traceability.
  • ISO and/or AS9100 manufacturing environments.
  • Forklift and pallet-jack operation.
  • Use of tape measures, calipers, torque tools, and other basic measuring or assembly equipment.

Physical Requirements:
This position may require the employee to:
  • Regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, and move throughout the facility.
  • Perform repetitive packing and assembly tasks.
  • Lift and carry materials or packages weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Use assistance or mechanical equipment for heavier or awkward items.
  • Operate carts, pallet jacks, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment after receiving required training.
  • Work around manufacturing equipment, moving vehicles, noise, dust, and changing temperatures.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and safety footwear.
