Job description

At Ford Motor Company, we believe freedom of movement drives human progress. We also believe in providing you with the freedom to define and realize your dreams. With our incredible plans for the future of mobility, we have a wide variety of opportunities for you to accelerate your career potential as you help us define tomorrow's transportation.

As part of our IPI (In-Plant implementation team) team, you'll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles the world expects from us. Within our plants around the world, we're constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. That means we're continually seeking diligent, determined performers who think outside the box to help us find better and more efficient ways to manufacture our vehicles.

We are seeking individuals with experience implementing Plant Floor Systems in an automobile assembly environment. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years' experience with Rockwell PLC's and HMI's. As a member of the In Plant Implementation team, you will be part of the team that is implementing Ford's Next Generation Automated Vehicle Scheduling (NGAVS) application. In that role, you will be responsible for the integration of NGAVS with Ford Vehicle Operations tooling and process control systems.

In this position...

Candidate will work with vendor controls engineers to install, test, and debug standard NGAVS logic and drivers. He/she may also direct the efforts of others, including agency personnel or third-party controls integrators, depending on the project assigned.

Although most NGAVS PLC code modules are standardized, the candidate may need to create custom PLC code for plant unique situations or modify standard templates and AOLs to address issues identified by others. Duties will include maintenance of PLC code for Allen-Bradley ControlLogix using Rockwell RS5000 software and creation and modification of HMI code for Allen-Bradley PanelView HMIs. Assignments may be in support of programs at anyof the Ford vehicle assembly plants in North and South America.

You'll have...

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Computer Systems or Manufacturing or B.S. in Computer Science with emphasis on Manufacturing/Industrial Controls
  • 1 - 3 years' experience in industrial controls in an automotive environment, preferably with the Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLC family
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with all levels of operating management
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office application suite
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member on a team, and strong interpersonal skills to build close working relationships with customers
  • Demonstrated aptitude to learn and apply new technologies
  • Manufacturing plant, especially Ford plant, experience is a big plus.
  • Experience in networking, especially Ethernet/IP is a plus
  • Experience with SmartEye vehicle identification, or Kenyence, or Cognex scanners is a plus.

Even better, you may have...

  • Candidate must be legally able to travel to and work in US, Canada, and Mexico
  • The job requires extensive travel to plant sites during critical phases of New Model Program launch
  • Must be physically able to work for long hours on the assembly plant floor (Body, Paint, and Final), including walking extended distances and climbing stairs/ladders.

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder...or all of the above?
