Job description

Security Team
Department: Security
Employment Type: Part Time
Location: Greensboro
Compensation: $18.00 - $22.00 / hour
Description
At Boxcar, our product is a good time. For us, that means cold drinks, exciting arcade games, great pizza, and even better people.
Boxcar has four locations across North Carolina. We're not a chain. We value personality. What ties each spot together is a team that cares deeply about making each guest's night a great one and looking out for one another.
Our Security Team gets paid to keep the good times safe. We aren't looking for bouncers on a power trip. We are looking for professionals who know that the best security is a conversation, not a confrontation.
What You'll Do
  • Work the Door. You are the first impression. Greet guests, check IDs, and screen for weapons or outside alcohol.
  • De-escalate First. Your voice is your best tool. We expect you to defuse tension and talk people down before it ever becomes physical, following our use of force and de-escalation policies.
  • Handle the Heat. When words fail, you act - safely and professionally removing guests who are intoxicated, aggressive, or threatening others.
  • Communicate. Earpiece in, head on a swivel. Clear radio communication with the team prevents problems before they start. You'll contact local police when a situation calls for it.
  • Document Everything. If an incident happens, you work with management to preserve camera footage and complete a detailed incident report.
  • Support the Team. If the door's quiet and the floor needs a hand, you bus a few glasses or clear trash. Nobody here just stands around with their arms crossed.

What We're Looking For
Our Non-Negotiables
  • No a**holes. We value kindness, honesty, integrity, and consideration. If you can't abide by that, Boxcar isn't the place for you.
  • One team, one dream. We don't do silos or pass the buck. Pitch in and help out, even if it's not your core responsibility. No job is too small.

What Else We're Looking For
  • Experience. Experience in security, the military, law enforcement, or any high-pressure people-facing job is a big plus, but not required.
  • Judgment. You have the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Conscientiousness: You take the job seriously, but you don't take yourself too seriously.
  • Genuine hospitality. You like people, and it shows in how you work.
  • Reliability. Full stop. Show up, on time, every time.
  • Physical Presence. You are able to stand/walk for 8-hour shifts and have the ability to lift/carry/push over 100 lbs when needed.
  • Night & weekend availability. That is when we need you most.

What We Offer You
We're not a corporate bar group. We're a locally-owned business that cares about getting the details right for our people. Here's what that means for you:
  • A culture you actually like. We aim to foster an environment where people want to work. We treat adults like adults, but don't forget to have fun like kids.
  • We'll have your back. The no a**holes policy applies to customers as well.
  • Growth opportunities. This doesn't have to be the last job you have at Boxcar. We want to invest in your career. We prefer to promote from within and find ways to keep our best people around.
  • And the perks. 50% pizza discount, after-shift drink, competitive benefits available, and a workplace that is literally an arcade.

Made it this far? Let's talk. Apply now.
