Job description

We are currently accepting applications for a Survey Rodman wanting to advance their construction career. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in supporting our construction projects by collecting accurate data and measurements on site. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the survey team in conducting topographic surveys, as-built surveys, and construction layout and survey related functions along with 3D modeling for machine control.
This is a safety sensitive position.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Day to day scheduling of up to three survey crews.
  • Assist in setting control points, benchmarks, and reference points to establish accurate survey reference systems.
  • Perform field measurements and data collection including notes, sketches, and photographs.
  • Utilize GPS survey equipment and levels to measure and record precise data.
  • Establish site layout for all excavation and site utility performance.
  • Assist construction crews in the management and distribution of construction models to field devices and machine control systems.
  • Coordinating with project managers to assess the survey needs on projects and to ensure accurate interpretation and implementation of survey data.
  • Collaborating with the project's engineer/architect to resolve issues and assist in resolving any discrepancies or issues related to survey data and communicating findings to the survey team.
  • Continuously develop your technical knowledge and skills in surveying techniques, equipment, and software.

Position Requirements:
  • Knowledge of construction terminology and processes.
  • Proficient with Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office (MS Word and MS Excel)
  • Prior experience working on construction projects with surveying layout, either through internships, co-op programs, or comparable work experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work with precision and accuracy in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate with team members and communicate survey findings.
  • Willingness to work independently and/or as a team in an organized manner.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiar with Auto Cad Civil 3D and/or Trimble Business Center
  • Proficiency in operating surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
  • A competent understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and datums.
  • Understanding of civil roadway plans; including but not limited to - cross sections, plan and profile, survey control details, and storm drain profiles.
  • Familiar with Trimble Machine Control Systems

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  • The work environment is consistent of an office and facility with construction equipment inventory and construction job site activities.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and uneven terrain.
  • Proven commitment to Safety.
  • Noise levels can be loud.
  • Safety training required; PPE required outside of office/parking lot area.
  • PPE must comply with site specific requirements.
  • Occasional lifting may be required up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time with frequent bending and stooping.
  • Occasional travel and night work. (Usually 1-2 nights)

Compensation:
  • $15 - $25 per hour.
