Position: Porter

Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL

Pay Rate: $16.00/hr

The Porter is responsible for ensuring the garage stays in good overall shape, remains presentable, and operates smoothly. Key responsibilities include conducting daily facility walkthroughs, verifying that customers are properly registering their vehicles, auditing garage equipment, and keeping the premises clean and welcoming for visitors.

  • Ensure the garage stays in good shape, remains presentable, and operates smoothly on a daily basis.

  • Monitor parking levels to verify that customers are properly registering their vehicles according to garage policies.

  • Observe and report any unauthorized, unregistered, or policy-violating vehicles to management.

  • Report any observed safety hazards, policy violations, or unusual occurrences to the Facility Manager in a timely manner.

  • Conduct daily walkthroughs of the garage, stairwells, entrances, and exits to evaluate overall facility conditions.

  • Inspect ticket spitters and gates daily for proper operation, ticket supply, correct time display, and general appearance.

  • Check the condition and security of safety features, including gate arms and clearance bars.

  • Record gate counters, log ticket numbers, and provide accurate daily data to the Manager.

  • Maintain a garage/lot sweep sheet and keep an updated inventory of operational supplies.

  • Sweep and pick up debris around entrances, exits, stairwells, handrails, the booth, office, and restrooms.

  • Empty all trashcans throughout the garage, booth, and office areas.

  • Address basic touch-ups such as applying oil absorbent to minor spills or replacing burned-out lightbulbs to keep the facility neat.

  • Submit formal maintenance and repair requests to management for larger or complex issues.

  • Assist customers within the facility and resolve minor inquiries or issues independently or with supervisor support.

  • Practice standard customer service behaviors during all interactions to ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Cover basic operational duties, including booth attendant or cashier support, on an as-needed basis.

  • Maintain a neat appearance and wear the complete required uniform during all scheduled shifts.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualification Requirements:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:  High School Diploma or a combination of experience and education.  May require facility maintenance, electrical and or painting experience and or skills training depending on the job assignment and facility.

License Requirement:  The individual will only be required to have and maintain a valid state-issued driver’s license, with a current address and acceptable driving record, if the individual is expected to be able to drive a company vehicle or drive on company business. 

 

Availability to Work:  Special shift requirements, if any, will vary depending on a location's hiring needs.  If applicable, availability to work 3rd shift and/or week-ends may be a requirement.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers and to communicate with customers and fellow employees. The employee must be able to lift and move 50 pounds or more regularly. The employee must be able to move in a relatively quick manner.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Peripheral vision and Ability to adjust focus.  Ability to withstand working with dust, chemicals and other possible irritants and work in extreme weather conditions (rain, snow, cold, heat). 

Salary Range:  $17.00 per hour
