What you'll do

The Product Owner – Workplace Services (WpS) Technology Solutions directs the strategic vision, roadmap, launch, and continuous refinement of software platforms supporting Workplace Services/Facilities operations. This position acts as the link between business collaborators, WpS teams, vendors, and Global IT Enterprise technology teams to ensure that solutions effectively aid space management, workforce planning, visitor management, maintenance operations, global printing services, and WpS service delivery.

This is a sitebased role, employees work 3+ days (60%+) per week from a Viasat office or work location within a standard fiveday workweek.

The day-to-day

This role involves leading digital transformation efforts by showcasing Artificial Intelligence, automation, analytics, and new workplace technologies to improve employee experience, operational efficiency, sustainability, and data-informed decision-making throughout the global organization. The role leads a portfolio of workplace technologies including IWMS, CMMS, visitor management systems, managed print services, smart building solutions, and AI-enabled workplace platforms.

Product Strategy & Roadmap

  • Direct the strategy, roadmap, lifecycle management, and ongoing improvement of facilities technology solutions.
  • Develop and sustain the product vision for Workplace/facilities related technology solutions.
  • Work together with Workplace Services, Corporate Real Estate, Security, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), and IT colleagues to recognize business needs and opportunities that technology can solve.
  • Prioritize enhancements, projects, and investments based on business value, risk, resource availability, and organizational goals.
  • Define success metrics and measure product performance against key business objectives.
Product Ownership & Delivery
  • Serve as the primary guardian of facilities technology platforms, including:
  • Integrated Workplace Management Systems (IWMS)
  • Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Hybrid Office Reservation Systems
  • Facility Service Request Platforms
  • Managed Print Services Platforms and Print Solutions
  • Maintain and prioritize the product backlog.
  • Create business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process documentation.
  • Collaborate with technical groups, suppliers, and implementation partners to deliver system improvements and projects.
  • Participate in Agile planning, testing, release management, and deployment activities.
Artificial Intelligence & Workplace Innovation
  • Develop and complete a roadmap for incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation, and sophisticated analytics into Workplace Services modern workspace technology.
  • Seek chances to implement generative AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics that boost operational efficiency, user experience, and decision-making.
  • Work alongside Workplace Services, Real Estate, and IT groups to introduce AI-enhanced functions within workplace technologies.
  • Assess emerging AI technologies and industry developments to promote innovation in workplace management and intelligent building operations.
  • Ensure AI initiatives align with corporate governance, security, privacy, and compliance requirements.
Business Process Optimization
  • Analyze existing WpS business processes and find opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
  • Ensure systems support key functions such as:
  • Space planning and allocation
  • Occupancy tracking and reporting
  • Preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Asset management
  • Work order management
  • Facility utilization analytics
  • Drive standardization of facilities operational processes across sites and locations.
  • Drive initiatives to standardize print services, optimize fleet utilization, reduce operating costs, and improve the employee experience across global sites.
Collaborator Management
  • Establish firm ties with Workplace Services leadership and operational groups.
  • Represent the customer’s perspective and foster the requirements of end users.
  • Facilitate workshops, requirement gathering sessions, and collaborator reviews.
  • Communicate roadmap updates, priorities, project status, and system changes to business partners.
Vendor & Technology Management
  • Manage relationships with software vendors and service providers.
  • Evaluate new product capabilities, upgrades, and emerging technologies.
  • Coordinate system implementations, integrations, and vendor-led enhancements.
  • Participate in contract renewals, licensing reviews, and vendor performance assessments.
Data & Reporting
  • Ensure data accuracy, governance, and integrity across facilities systems.
  • Develop and maintain operational dashboards, meaningful metrics, and analytics.
  • Support reporting related to space utilization, occupancy, maintenance performance, asset lifecycle, and visitor activity.
  • Identify chances to apply data in strategic decision-making.
Organizational Transition & Adoption
  • Lead user adoption initiatives and training programs.
  • Develop user documentation, process guides, and support materials.
  • Gather user feedback and incorporate improvements into future releases.
  • Champion continuous improvement and product adoption across the organization.

What you'll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Facilities Management, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Over 5 years of experience serving as a Product Owner, Business Systems Analyst, Product Manager, or in a similar role.
  • More than 3 years of experience supporting Facilities, Real Estate, Workplace Services, or related business areas.
  • Experience managing enterprise software platforms and business applications.
  • Experience gathering and documenting business requirements and translating them into technical solutions.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and collaborator leadership skills.
  • Experience working with multi-functional teams including Facilities, IT, Security, and external vendors.
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Salary range
$141,500.00 - $224,000.00 / annually.For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $176,000.00- $264,000.00/ annually
